News from the Regional Championships at Eland Lodge August 2017

Eight members competed at the Regional Championships at Eland Lodge.

The dressage team of Kate Rutherford, Florence Waugh, Archie Tulloch and Sienna Matson did extremely well with Kate 3rd in her section, Archie 4th in his section and Florence 14th in her section. Overall the team came 7th out of 30 teams!

The eventing teams both did very well.
The Sir WWW Foxes team, Archie Tulloch, Annie Lowe, Iyla Gallacher and Eleanor Kennedy came 3rd overall with a win for Archie in his section and 2nd for Iyla and 9th for Annie. They all had double clears which was a real achievement.

The Teams had a fantastic experience competing together. They stabled the night before and enjoyed a delicious barbeque!  They had great team spirit, watching and encouraging each other over all the phases and had great support from their parents and trainers.

The Sir WWW Hounds team consisting of Freddie Greenwell, Florence Waugh and Kate Rutherford where unlucky not to be placed with Florence and Freddie also getting double clears . . No other Pony Club achieved such a consistent record of double clears and this bodes well for next years teams!

A special mention must go to Kate Rutherford who had had little eventing experience before this spring and had made amazing progress to win her section at the Area qualifier thus getting to the championships. Well done Kate.

Our Branch sent 2 teams to the Joint Area 5 and Area 4 Qualifying round of the Horse and Pony care Competition. The team consisting of Pip and Naomi Young and Kate Rutherford were beaten by The Cheshire Hunt North Team by 4 points for the Area 5 ticket to the Championships.  This was especially creditable as the winning team won last year and are considerably older than our teams’ average age. The second team, ( India Bebb,Charlotte McConnell,Lucy Bourne),  also acquitted themselves well  as they too are very young. Both teams have worked extremely hard under the coaching of Janet Douglas and Jackie Bourne since January. This will stand them in good stead for next year!

Thanks also to Tonia Rutherford who acted as chef d’ equipe on what was a very long day !
