Holwell Lawn is an area of 100 acres of grass and moorland, situated near Widecombe-in-the-Moor, with a stunning backdrop of Haytor and Houndtor. Holwell Lawn was bought in 2000 with the aid of lottery funding from the Sports Council.
It is the home of the South Devon Moorland Branch of the Pony Club. It has a large field for hosting rallies, show jumping, mounted games and dressage as well as the main cross country course and a mini-cross country course. We are an incredibly fortunate Pony Club to have such amazing facilities for our members, other branch members and other equestrians to enjoy.
The main cross country course is set over the undulating moorland and has jumps ranging from 60 cm to 1m, and the mini cross country course is an ideal starter course with jumps ranging from 20cm to 50 cm in height. In all there are over 230 cross country jumps including a water jump, a sunken road, banks, logs, oxers, pheasant feeders, a duck and a snake!
We hold an Open Spring Hunter Trial in April, and an Open Autumn Hunter Trail in October each year, in addition to making the courses available for Open Schooling and Instructor Clinics.
