Young Equestrian Leaders Award – YELA

This award scheme has been developed for the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) in consultation with its Member Bodies and supported by Sport England to increase and encourage the number of young people volunteering in the Equestrian industry.

Taking part in the YELA scheme is something that is highly considered by Universities and future employers in the same way that the Duke of Edinburgh awards are.

The awards are open to all members between the ages of 13 and 25. There are three progressive levels, starting with the Bronze Award which requires just 20 hours of volunteering and the completion of a self-assessment form.

Registering through your Pony Club can enable a registration discount code.  Once Registered, log books are issued and there are plenty of opportunities both within the Pony Club and at other registered centres to volunteer and collect the necessary hours.

Full details of what is required at each level can be found on the YELA website or contact Sarah Ryder for further information.
