We are really excited to announce that we are partnering with East Sussex branch to bring back senior residential camp at Hickstead.

Dates Monday 4th August – 5pm arrival  until Friday 8th August 4pm collection.

We will have access as usual to the amazing all-weather arenas including ring 4 arena eventing.

Horses will be stabled in the newly built (ready in May 25) stabling blocks.

Full catering will be provided by Maxwell’s catering at the clubhouse, to include a hot breakfast each morning, baguettes or jacket potatoes for lunch and a hot meal and pudding each night.

Children will camp in tents or lorries, caravans or trailers or sleep in the jockey dorms (very limited availability).  All will have access to the newly refurbished shower and toilet blocks. New hardstanding carpark for vehicles. Hook-up available at an extra cost.

Bikes are definitely encouraged as a highlight of camp for most children has always been to cycle between the clubhouse and the stables and around the showground.

Evening entertainment will be provided, ranging from movie night, rounders, unmounted games, treasure hunt for example. Any ideas welcome!

Cost for the camp is £335 per person to includes all the above.

Bookings open 8th March, limited to 10 spaces, on a first come basis. Non-refundable deposit of £100 payable immediately to secure your place, followed by 2 further instalments of £135 and £100 due 1st May and 1st July (plus 50p PayPal charge per transaction).

East Sussex branch have already sold out their tickets and have members on a waiting list. To secure your place, deposit must be paid before 8th April, at which point any unsold sdw tickets will be opened up to East Sussex.

What will you need to provide?

• You will need a tent or lorry to sleep in if camping, or just a duvet and pillow if in the dorms.

• Hay and feed for your horses (hay can be provided at extra cost)

• There will be shavings in the stables from the International show held 2 weeks prior. We will do a reccy the week before to assess how much is in there, but you will likely want to bring another bale or 2 yourself. Hickstead can provide but you will likely be able to source for a more competitive price

• For the first night on Monday with 5pm arrival, we ask that you feed your child a good meal during the day and send them with a packed dinner. Due to timings and trying to keep costs down this is the only night a hot meal will not be provided

If you’ve got any questions or queries at all, feel free to ask away. We want this to be the best year yet!
