General Hunting Information

A day out with Hounds will cost any pony club member £20. This is payable to the Hunt Secretary at the meet.  Unless you have been given your hunt proficiency badge you MUST be accompanied by an adult.    To enjoy a day’s hunting your pony will need to be moderately fit, as you could be out for up to four plus hours. Your pony will need to be clean and tidy. If he/she is clipped or part clipped then they should be plaited, otherwise manes and tails tidily brushed. You should be clean and smartly turned out.  A dark cover on your hat, tweed jacket, over a shirt and pony club tie, I would suggest a v neck jumper as well to keep warm. Dark coloured gloves, beige jodhpurs, clean black or brown chaps and boots. Again warmth is essential on cold wintry days so a pair of tights under jods and an extra pair of socks, if boots will allow, is a good idea. Hair must be tied back neatly and in a hairnet if long .Body protectors may be worn.  Tack must be clean and checked for safety. No brightly coloured numnahs. Unless it is really necessary it is better not to put boots on your pony as grit or mud can get inside the boot and rub and cause irritation.
