 Triathlon/Tetrathlon Taster Days
3 – 25 yr olds, Boys and Girls
 
March 30th – Triathlon Only,
 
June 1st & 2nd  /  July 6th & 7th 
Triathlon & Tetrathlon
 
 
Saturdays – Triathlon only, starting 10am
 
Shooting, (target bean bag throwing for under 8’s)
& Running at Whitland Memorial Hall (SA34 OAA)
Swimming at Narberth Swimming Pool (SA67 7DU)
Sunday a.m. Riding – Home Farm, Cresselly (SA34 0SP)
 
Shooting tuition will be given and guns provided to the over 8’s
 
Children will be put into age groups and have a fun competition within their group
 
(3 – 5yrs, 6 – 7 yrs, 8 – 9yrs, 10 – 12 yrs, 13 – 16yrs, 17 – 25yrs)

Triathlon entries £6  for under 8 yr olds, £10 for over 8’s 
Tetrathlon entry £15 for under 8yr olds, £20 for over 8’s
Entries on the day will be accepted £2 extra 
 
Light refreshments will be available at Whitland Memorial Hall
 
An Individual & Team Show Jumping & Open Field Jumping Challenge will follow the tetrathlon phase which is open to Pony Club members & teams from all branches & likely to include classes from 45cms to 1m.  Full details to follow.
Triathlon information
 
Shooting
Over 8 yrs Shoot at 7m from target with air pistol (provided) 1 to 1 tuition will be given and practice then 2 targets (10 pellets) will be used for scoring
 
Swimming
Under 8’s Swim as far as they can in 1 or 2 mins (depending on competitors age and ability). Any stroke , widths or lengths, armbands and help allowed
 
Under 12’s Swim as far as they can in 2 mins, widths or lengths, any stroke
Over 12’s Swim as far as they can in 3 mins, lengths, any stroke
 
Running
 
Under 8’s Run 500m or less (depending on competitors and their age and ability) 
Their individual time to complete the course will be taken
Under12’s Run 1000m as fast as they can. Their individual time will be taken
 
Over 12’s Run 1500m as fast as they can. Their individual time will be taken
 
Over 8,s will run as individuals starting at 30 second intervals,
 
Under 8’s , depending on the children involved the run will be a race over a shorter distance with parents encouraging and probably running with them.
Anything goes with the little ones we want to encourage them not put them off!!
Ride
Working Hunter jumps, Show jumping course or riding ability test (a Dressage test with obstacles for those who don’t want to jump).  Height of jumps dependant on childrens ability. Can be  be led. More details later
Again anything goes we want to encourage them and have fun
All scores, distances and times are converted into points and there will be an overall winner. Rosettes to 6th place in each age group
 
There will be rosettes to the best shoot , best swim , best run , best ride in each age group.
 
RULES
Competition will be run under Pony Club rules
Ages as on 1st Jan 2019
 
 
Shooting
No guns to be left unattended at any time
 
No one under the age of 18 may carry a gun in a public place
 
Guns must be kept in their cases until the firing point steward gives the order to unbox them. They must be boxed again before the competitor leaves the firing point
Riding
A Skull Cap to comply with Pony Club Rules must be worn when mounted. Skull Cap & Body Protectors are compulsory for the Riding phase.
There will be a hat and tack inspection before the riding phase. Please ensure your hat has been fitted with a BLUE Pony Club Tag by your DC before the competition.
Earrings, studs, other body jewelry and nail varnish must not be worn.
Competitors will not be forced to retire after 3 refusals at any one fence, but if they continue they must not impede following competitors and must retire after 2 falls as per Tetrathlon rules.
Horses must be 5 yrs old or over and may not be ridden by more than one competitor over the same course unless the riders are siblings. Please state on entry form if sharing a horse/pony.
Due to the current issues with Equine Flu in line with PC advice & guidelines the organisers reserve the right to check passports & only allow horses/ponies to compete that meet the current BEF vaccination guidelines
