However, there are some items of dress that have safety implications. Members are expected to dress correctly and safely for all activities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Clothing \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>When mounted, Members should wear a Branch sweatshirt, plain-coloured jodhpurs, a suitable plain-coloured polo shirt.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Footwear \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Only standard riding or jodhpur boots with a fairly smooth, thin sole and a well defined square cut heel may be worn. Plain black or brown half chaps may be worn with jodhpur boots of the same colour. \u00a0No other footwear will be permitted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jewellery \u2013\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>No jewellery must be worn.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hair \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Must be tied back securely \u2013 in a hairnet.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hats and Body Protectors \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>These are to be in accordance with guidance and meet recommended Safety Standards as detailed in the Rulebooks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Often our Discipline Key Contacts will organise a merchandise run at the beginning of each season, so worth checking with them before you order directly. New clothing is not expected, but what is worn must be neat and clean. Ponies always look smarter with oiled feet \u2013 you don\u2019t have to use hoof oil \u2013 any hoof dressing or ointment will look just as smart.<\/li>\n<li>Tack should be clean, safe and fit correctly. Don\u2019t forget to check the size of the stirrups; they don\u2019t grow with your feet! There should be just enough room to get a finger either side of your boots.<\/li>\n<li>Numnahs or saddle pads must only be black, white, brown or dark blue and not so big that they swamp your pony.<\/li>\n<li>You should wear a tweed jacket, with Pony Club badge and felt on the left lapel.<\/li>\n<li>Shirt and Pony Club tie. You could wear a Shirt and Pony Club tie (with or without a tweed jacket) or any plain long sleeved shirt or sweatshirt. No Hoodies! Long sleeves are compulsory for riding cross country and are recommended at all times. They do help to reduce \u2018gravel rash\u2019 if you are unfortunate enough to fall off! This applies when you are warming the pony up before the event as well.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Please also remember that the pony must only be ridden by the person competing it on the day \u2013 if anyone else gets on to school the pony, or even just to warm it up \u2013 you will get eliminated before you even start!<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>See the individual discipline rule books (available to download or purchase from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcuk.org\/\">www.pcuk.org<\/a>) for accurate information. There is even a rule about the length of whips \u2013 so it\u2019s best to have a look at the rule book before you get to a competition!<\/li>\n<li>Dress for pony and rider is mainly as for Pony Club tests.<\/li>\n<li>For the cross country (XC) phase of a one day event (ODE) you are allowed to wear XC colours \u2013 a long sleeved sweatshirt\/jumper in any colour of your choice \u2013 with the exception of some cross country and hunter trials \u2013 do check the schedules \u2013 some branches will not let you wear XC colours, but insist on Hunting dress (Tweed Jacket, shirt and tie) or Pony Club sweatshirts<\/li>\n<li>Jodhpurs beige or cream.<\/li>\n<li>Medical armbands and body protectors are compulsory for all XC.<\/li>\n<li>Hats must be PC approved &amp; display a PC tag.
