Brief Description of tetrathlon phases<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Shooting: This is target shooting with an air pistol. Its very easy to learn. Before you compete in a competition you must have come to a session to learn to shoot.<\/p>\n

2. Running: Seniors boys run 3000m, intermediate boys 2000m. Senior, intermediate girls & juniors run a distance of 1500m. Minimus (under 12 years) run a distance of 1000m. You run individually at 1 minute intervals and score points according to your time. It is not a race.<\/p>\n

3. Swimming: Senior boys swim for 4 mins, senior girls, intermediates & juniors swim for 3 minutes and minimus swim for 2 minutes. You can swim in any stroke you like ( several if you want!). You score points for every metre you swim.<\/p>\n

4. Riding: You ride a cross country course (just like a hunter trial). Points are scored for every fence you jump. There is no elimination unless you cannot manage to jump the first three fences. Included in the course is a gate to negotiate mounted and a slip rail that you negotiate dismounted.<\/p>\n

Heights are set for different age groups:
\nUnder 12 novice minimus will be a small course under 2ft
\nMinimus and novice juniors will be a maximum of 2ft 6
\nJuniors can be a maximum of 3ft
\nIntermediates will be maximum of 3ft3
\nSeniors will be a maximum of 3ft6<\/p>\n

At the end of the four phases, the points are totalled to give you a final score. As many competitors as possible are put in groups of four to make a team and their points are totalled to give a team score.
