The Talent Pathway

The Talent Pathway  is designed to aid the development of Pony Club Members who show the ability to progress in their sport and provides a stepping stone for young riders working towards the talent pathways of the Olympic disciplines, the British Equestrian Federation’s Sport England funded Excel Talent Programme and the UK Sport Funded World Class Programme.

At each assessment day, three riders are selected to go forwards to the National Talent Pathway Camp. Riders should not already be receiving support through the BEF World Class or Excel programmes, or be on any existing Pony, Junior or Young Rider squads.

It is open for PC members ages 12 to 18 that meet the minimum criteria, See bellow:

12-14 – At least 4 original score sheets at the relevant level must be sent with each application:

  • Riders competing consistently at Pony club intermediate level/ BD novice or above scoring at least 66%
  • If the rider has achieved their C+ test, they need only supply a minimum of three score sheets

15-25 – At least 4 original score sheets at the relevant level must be sent with each application:

  • Riders competing consistently at Pony club open level/ BD elementary or above scoring at least 66%
  • If the rider has achieved their B test, they need only supply a minimum of three score sheets.

This scheme starts with an assessment day that is held in our area, from there the best riders are selected and invited to a 2 day camp. The top riders at the camp will be invited to join a Pony club dressage squad.
