Horse & Pony care

The horse and pony care competition is a dismounted competition where members show their practical and theory skills over a range of horse management topics. This can be anything from Bandaging, tack fitting to paddock management and veterinary care as skills are taken from the pony club efficiency test cards over a number of rounds.

Teams consist of three members and as many teams that can be put together can be entered.

Junior team members are to be: all under 14 years old and one member under the age of 12 years

Senior teams – all over 14 with one member under the age of 16 (only 1 member per team can hold the B test standard)

The Area competition is usually held during the Easter Holidays, with the teams who qualify going forward to the Pony Club National Championships held at Cholmondeley Castle in August.
