YOUNG EQUESTRIAN LEADERS AWARD (YELA)

The Pony Club offers all members, aged between 13 and 25, the opportunity to take part in YELA, which is for young people who want to be involved in volunteering in the equestrian world.
It is a great step if you are thinking of getting into coaching, but also useful to build on confidence and gives you great, hands-on experience in the area you chose to volunteer in.  There is a bronze, silver and gold award and they can be used to enhance your CV, university and job applications.
Molly Bond from the VWH has recently achieved her Bronze award and is currently half way through her Silver.

To start your YELA journey you register via the Pony Club website https://events.pcuk.org/yela.  Bronze is free to Pony Club members – then find somewhere to volunteer.   Where you volunteer does need to be a recognised Member Body Approved establishment.  There is a list given to you when you apply and you start off by doing 20 hours for your chosen establishment.  This then needs to be signed off by them, then sent back and you will receive your Bronze Award.  When you get your Gold there is an Award ceremony at Royal Windsor Horse Show and this year the awards were presented by the showjumper Tim Gredley.

Many thanks to Abi Bond for letting us know a bit more about this brilliant opportunity and if you would like more information please contact Abi (hiabi@hotmail.com) or look on the Pony Club website.
