2024 Camps

Mini Camp 2024 – Sheppards Farm, Chisledon

41 members attended Mini Camp this year with the youngest member being 2 years old. With a theme of Olympics, a range of activities were organised by Sarah Wood resulting in each ride receiving plenty of medals. Penny Hall and Penny King visited one morning to help with bean bag throwing and there were some great ‘Olympic’ themed costumes on the final dress up day.

The final day’s activities also included the water pistol games – which originally started as target practice!! Everyone was very happy to get wet before swimming in the pool!

Hound puppies arrived for cuddles one morning plus a visit from an ice cream van – alongside the usual daily swim, treasure hunts, bun run, jumping lane, mounted games and some mini Achievement badges for the older children.

There was very positive feedback from parents and grandparents and we do thank everyone for their support and encouragement! Our biggest thanks go to our wonderful instructors, who make camp great fun, as well Biffy the Bun Lady who dressed up as an Olympic Torch on the last day.

A huge thankyou as ever to the Ormond family for hosting camp, but particularly this year with the very sad news of the death of Tim Ormond the weekend before camp.

Summer Camp 2024 – Sheppards Farm, Chisledon

33 children attended this year’s Summer Camp, which was ably organised by Gillie Ticehurst, Ellie Kerrigan, Caroline Bulley and Katie Freeman.  This was their first camp and they did a great job and made some lovely changes as well as keeping the camp efficient and safe and lots of fun.

A successful emporium for second hand clothes and kit raised £275 for the Branch and there were lots of ideas for improvements to make it even better for next year.

Senior Camp 2024 – Rectory Farm

21 Children and their ponies attended the three day/ 2 night camp at Rectory Farm this August.  The venue was excellent.  It was useful to have arenas to save horses legs as well as cross country and grass or arena for show jumping and dressage.

There was lots of riding this year with our great instructors Ali McEwen, Lucie McNichol, Jenna Jewitt and Greta Mason (with Muzi Pottinger on day 3).  We also had the very unexpected bonus of meeting up with Tom McEwen.

The waterpark was enjoyed by everyone and great fun was had by all.
