Any combination of horse and rider may not compete where the height is 30cm lower than that at which they have previously competed

The top Branch teams (not mixed teams)  if there are five or less teams entered,  or the top two Branch teams (not mixed teams) if there are six or more teams entered, and the top three individuals whether or not they are in a qualifying team, at each branch team show jumping competition of the following levels:  Lead Rein 40cm,  Assisted 40cm, Unassisted 40cm,   50cm,  and 60cm,  will qualify for the Championships at the end of August 2024 at Bicton Arena

70cm Show Jumping Championships, which will be held at the end of August 2024 at Bicton

The top two Area 15 teams and top three Area 15 individuals at each branch team 70cm show jumping competition will qualify for the Championships at Bicton Arena.

Each team at the Championships must include two out of the original four riders.

Entries are allowed from individuals or teams, team competitors will be individuals as well.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR THE REGIONALS AT BICTON, HELD AT THE END OF AUGUST What are the Regional Championships?

The Pony Club Grassroots Regional Championships are an entry level team competition in Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing which are ideal for the more novice Branch and Centre Members. They’re a perfect stepping stone for anyone looking to compete at The Pony Club Championships in the future!

Each Pony Club Area will hold a qualifying competition, where a number of teams and individuals will progress through to the Championship for their region. The South West Region Championship (Area 14, 15 and 16) will be held at the end of August at Bicton.

Competitors must meet certain eligibility criteria in order to enter – check the relevant rulebook for the sport you’re entering.

For Regional qualifiers, the first two teams and individuals placed earn direct qualification.

NATIONAL PONY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Weston Harriers’ members have had several successful entries in Area 15 competitions over recent years and are thrilled that some members wish to participate in these higher level competitions. Area 15 have requested this year that all clubs explain the following to anyone considering approaching their DC to enter Area competitions.

Eligibility for Area teams – Note from Area 15 [edited for clarification]:

Team selection in Area 15 competitions is at the discretion of the branch DC, who is responsible to sign off the health and safety of the combination [competing], however, members and their horse must have actively taken part in at least three rallies or training sessions in the [competition year] unless prevented from doing so by illness or [being away] from home.  (D. Custance-Baker)

As a branch we would also ask you please read the rule-books for your discipline which can be found on this website to be sure about the eligibility requirements and rules covering tack etc. After you have been put forward as an entry by the branch, you are responsible for meeting all other rules on the competition day yourself.

Please remember Area Competitions are not the place to ‘have a go’ at a higher level than you usually compete at. Competing in teams/peer pressure can be daunting enough.

We are very happy to assist anyone who wishes to ask about Area competitions or check particular details – please get in contact.

For National Championship qualifiers, the first two teams and individuals placed earn direct qualification.
