đť Where the Hooves Haunt: The West Somerset Halloween Pony Club Rally!
The air was crisp and thick with an unnatural fog, the only sound the eerie, rhythmic clip-clop of hooves on hallowed ground. Forget your typical Saturdayâthis was the West Somerset Pony Club Halloween Rally, and the spirits of horsemanship were definitely stirring!
đ¸ď¸ The Parade of the Undead (and Adorably Spooky!)
Our members truly outdid themselves with the fancy dress this year! The stable yard was transformed into a spooktacular runway:
Ponies as Ghosts and Ghouls: We saw everything from noble steeds draped in white shrouds (with glow sticks for eyes!) to pumpkins that were remarkably tolerant of being ridden.
Riders in Disguise: Witches, zombies, and black cats manned the reins, proving that you can absolutely jump in a pointy hat and still look fierce. A special shout-out to the rider and pony who came as a fully-fledged, web-spinning spiderâtalk about dedication!
â°ď¸ The Haunting in the Arena: Jumps and Grids
The spooky theme didn’t stop the serious riding. Our brave riders and their disguised ponies took to the arena, which had been decked out with unsettling decor!
Flying Skeletons (Jumps): The usual uprights were transformed into terrifying tombstones, and planks were replaced with grinning skeletons. The riders showed incredible nerve, tackling these terrifying obstacles with focus and precision. The horses, meanwhile, seemed unbothered, possibly because theyâre used to their riders being a bit mad anyway!
The Grid of Ghouls: We then moved onto the grid work, a complex line of poles and small fences designed to improve rhythm and technique. This phase was suitably challenging, requiring the riders to navigate the tight sequence like a maze, proving their skill even when dressed as a medieval knight or a friendly vampire.
