For National Pony Club updates and information please go to

We run 3-4 major events throughout the year and request that each member (or a member of their family or a friend ) gives up at least 1 day (or two ½ days) to help at these events or at the Area or Dengie competitions each year.   We know that some families struggle to find the time to volunteer and so as an alternative, we can accept a payment of £40, per member, to cover the cost of paying someone else to do the job in your absence.  Deadline for volunteering or payment is 1st September, but preferably by the end of June.  Volunteering is a prerequisite of Pony Club membership and the more members who help, the lighter the load for those members, past and present, who always do volunteer and the more events we can offer to our members.  If you have not yet volunteered this year (or nominated a designate) please get in touch and let Susan Dugher know where you might be able to offer some help over the coming months.  To volunteer, please email Susan:
Why volunteer?

  • Support your club
  • Enable Whaddon Chase to run events.  Without volunteers these events could not take place! Running these events raises funds for the branch, which are used to subsidise camp, rallies, etc.
  • Strengthen your CV content
  • Learn new skills
  • See different disciplines in action
  • Make new friends and have fun

2019 Dates where helpers are needed:
13th – 14th April – Dengie SJ & Dressage National Finals, Addington
5th – 9th Aug WHADDON CHASE Camp – Addington
29th Sep WHADDON CHASE fun ride – Milton Keynes
5/6th Oct – WHADDON CHASE hunter trial – Plum Park

You don’t necessarily need to have any experience, there are plenty of jobs to be filled, and it can be great fun.  Most jobs do require an adult, but some can be done by a child (usually over 12 yrs).  We are planning to run Volunteer Training over the summer which will cover guidance for undertaking some of the volunteer roles we require, but some jobs require no experience whatsoever.

  • Please email Susan to let her know which event you would prefer to help at.
  • If you are unable to help at these events, it is our policy to request a payment of £40 to cover the cost of paying someone else to do the job in your absence.  You can pay by cheque payable to WCPC and give it to a committee member, or pay by BACS, with the reference Volunteer, to WCPC 60-04-09 85543039.  Thank you.
