We ask that you show consideration and respect to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your horse or pony<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your teammates<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Parents and supporters<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Designated trainers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The many volunteers and officials who make competitions possible<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pony Club DCs know each other well, and it is always a pleasure to hear positive feedback about good sportsmanship, behaviour and teamwork. We aim to ensure WHPC is represented positively at all times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please ensure that parents, members and supporters are all aware of, and understand, their responsibilities when attending competitions.<\/span><\/p>\n                                                    <\/div>\r\n                    <\/div>\r\n                <\/div>\r\n\r\n                    <\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n\r\n\r\n<section class=\"full-width-text py-5\">\r\n    <div class=\"container\">\r\n        <div class=\"row\">\r\n            <div class=\"col-lg-10 mx-auto\">\r\n                <h3><span style=\"color: #691f74\">Before entering a Competition<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We strongly recommend entering competitions in good time, as many close early due to popularity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Before entering, please:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Carefully read the schedule<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check which classes you are and are not eligible to enter<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Understand that by entering, you agree to follow the rules under which the competition is run<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For Pony Club competitions, this will be the relevant Pony Club discipline rulebook for that year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Make sure you:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Have read and understand the rules for your discipline<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Know what tack, equipment, bits, spurs and whips are permitted<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Understand the reasons you could be eliminated<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is the member\u2019s responsibility to be familiar with the rules. Please do not ask officials for exceptions, such as permission to continue after elimination.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Additional checks:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ensure all tack is safe, correctly fitted and well maintained<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check stitching and buckles well in advance<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ensure you have:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A current body protector (BETA 2018 \u2013 mandatory from January 2024)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A PINK-tagged hat<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A YELLOW hat tag if wearing spurs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please note:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You must be prepared to compete at any time during the day<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Factor in course walks and prize giving<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Avoid making other commitments on the competition day<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Digital rulebooks are available from www.pcuk.org, and hard copies can be purchased from www.amazon.co.uk. It is helpful to have a copy with you on the day.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Parents are encouraged to agree roles and responsibilities with their child well before the competition.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #691f74\">Preparing for an Event<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your horse or pony should always be at the centre of your preparations. Please ensure:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Routine foot, dental and veterinary care is up to date<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vaccinations are current<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Feeding and fitness are appropriate for the competition<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Be thorough in your preparation:<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prepare a full kit in advance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bring a box of spares, including:<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Headcollar<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reins<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Girth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leathers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Studs and spanners<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gloves<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hairnets<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Also remember:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hay and feed for the day (plus extra, just in case)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Plenty of water<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At least two buckets and sponges<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Appropriate rugs for the time of year<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">An equine first aid kit<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your horse or pony passport (required for all travel)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #691f74\">Tack and Turnout<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Both horse and rider should be immaculately turned out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Rider<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PINK-tagged hat (YELLOW tag if wearing spurs)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Plain navy, black or dark green if wearing a skullcap<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Body protector (BETA 2018)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">White shirt (collared for tie or stock shirt)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pony Club tie or stock<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hacking or show jacket with PC badge on the left lapel (with felt backing)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WHPC base layer (green or white for XC where applicable)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WHPC white\/green hooped XC hat silk (if applicable)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">White or cream jodhpurs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clean, polished leather long boots or jodhpur boots with half chaps\/clips<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hair neat and tidy in a hairnet<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gloves (compulsory for style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All keepers secured<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>On the Day<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check course walk times and plan your warm-up accordingly,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Walk the course correctly dressed, including:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jacket, shirt and tie\/stock<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Riding boots<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hat<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Arrive at tack check in good time (at least 20 minutes)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Report to stewards promptly<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For team competitions, attend tack check as a team<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Be mindful of others and allow plenty of time to be ready<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thank stewards, starters and officials<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Greet them politely, a smile and good manners go a long way<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Walk your pony regularly if there is a long wait<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Do not leave ponies standing on trailers for extended periods<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #691f74\">Prize Giving<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you are placed, attendance at prize giving is expected and is an important part of Pony Club competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Correct dress for prize giving:<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jacket, shirt and tie\/stock<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Riding boots<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hat with chin strap fastened and hairnet<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Boys may carry their hat<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gloves (right glove held in left hand)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No mobile phones in pockets<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not in XC kit for ODEs (Arena Eventing excepted)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For team competitions, all team members must attend prize giving, including discard scores.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please congratulate other clubs and competitors, this reflects true Pony Club sportsmanship.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #691f74\">Sportsmanship and Behaviour<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Take responsibility for your own performance. Parents and trainers are there to support and guide you, but preparation and decision-making ultimately lie with the rider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If things don\u2019t go to plan:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remain calm and composed<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Learn from the experience<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pat your horse and walk away if needed<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Never direct frustration at your horse, parents or others<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anger towards a horse or misuse of aids will not be tolerated and may affect future selection.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Winning is wonderful \u2014 but so is riding your best and doing your horse proud.
