The Wylye Valley Branch of The Pony Club

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year to all and I hope you’ve all had a good Christmas.

We have our first Wylye event fast approaching and that is a dressage qualifier for the Spring Championships being held in March.  This is a great opportunity for all to get their show jackets out and come and give it a go.  It’s at West Wilts on Sunday 6th February and there are classes for all, from Walk & Trot through to Novice, Intermediate and Open and a full set of BD tests for the more experienced.  Please see the schedule attached.

Most importantly, please use this as an opportunity for your Club to raise important funds.  We’re investing in a new set of showjumps (which will complement the arena lights generously being installed by Mrs Yeoman at Southfield) and a full set of 70 XC jumps, to give us a full set of XC courses from 70-100cm.  There aren’t many Pony Clubs that can offer that!  All funds we generate are reinvested and so supporting Wylye competitions is really important.

We also need helpers on the day, including stewards, writers and scorers, so please let Dawn Clarke know if you can help at dawn.clarke1@icloud.com.

Many thanks,
Miles

COMMITTEE NEWS

Mini Manager – Katie Payne has very kindly agreed to take this on from Laura Read.  Katie comes from a long-term Wylye family and her daughter is a relatively new member.  We have a really active group of Minis and it will be great to have Katie taking on the fantastic work of Laura.

Junior Manager – we’re not letting Laura Read go anywhere and I’m delighted that she is taking on our Junior/Grassroots group.  I’m sure she will have just the same impact as she did with the Minis.

Novice Challenge Manager – Kelly Nicholls has kindly agreed to move up an age group and take on our Novice Challenge group.  She follows Sian Blackmar, who has done a simply wonderful job over recent years.  Thank you so much, Sian.

Tetrathlon Manager – Katie Earle will be taking over responsibility for Tetrathlon from Helen Gray from 1st November and will be assisted by Fiona Pearce.  Katie’s daughter, Mollie, is a keen tetrathlete and Fiona brings great experience.  Sincere thanks go to Helen for her management of Tetrathlon and her period in charge has finished with our Junior Girls team triumphing at the PC Championships!  Thanks, Helen.

Intermediate/Open – we’re very fortunate to have Dawn Clarke continuing to manage our Intermediate and Open riders.

Finally, I’m also pleased to say that Amy Parfitt and Laura Read have agreed to become Assistant District Commissioners and I’m most grateful for their support.  They’ve both made a huge contribution to Wylye over recent years and it will be tremendous to have their continued help and guidance.
