Update from Royal Windsor Horse Show – junior tetrathlon news
Earlier this year Zetland members were excited to hear that Jack M was selected to represent Northern England at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in the Junior Tetrathlon. Over a hot weekend in May, eight teams from around the UK and Northern Ireland battled it out over two day’s hard competition with shooting, run and swim elements, ending with the ride.
The first day of competition went well for Jack, shooting 920 out of a possible 1000, followed by a super swim and a run along the Thames that was close to his personal best. The second day saw Jack with his horse Max tackling a mixture of show jumps and rustic fences including a slip rail, where Jack had to dismount, drop one side of a jump to the floor, walk over with Max and then put back up and get back on all within 30 seconds. Max and Jack took this all in their stride and just had one unlucky pole down.
Jack finished overall 16th out of 24 at Windsor….considering he was probably one of the youngest there the Zetland Pony Club is very proud of him.
The Northern England Team finished an impressive 6th overall.
