Each Branch covers a geographical area and is organised using the Purposes and the Rules of The Pony Club. Every Branch is led by a District Commissioner helped by a Committee of people assigned to specific roles to support the running of the Branch. Please note every member of the Branch Committee is a volunteer, dedicating spare time to support every Member.

Here you will find the contact details for our Committee Members at Aberconwy who will be able to help you with enquiries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Lindsey Howatson

Treasurer
Having been a Pony Club Member as a child, Lindsey is now a Pony Club Mum and loves our little Branch. She takes great pleasure in watching her own children and other Members of the Branch floruish through mounted and unmounted Pony Club experiences. “Horses and ponies teach children that hard work and dedication can be very rewarding. There are lots of lows along the journey which make the highs all that more special. Pony Club reminds me every day that’s it’s the friendships that make life special.”

Gwawr Williams

Secretary
Gwawr’s daughter joined our Branch as a 4 year old with her first pony Buzz, and Gwawr joined the Committee 4 years later. Over the past 12 years Gwawr’s daughter has taken part in rallies, compeitions and Camp (of course). Being a member of the Pony Club has taught her daughter to ride and take care of a pony, but it has also given her the opportunity to be part of a team, and create friendships for life. “I love how Aberconwy Members help and support each other at Pony Club events but also outside Pony Club too, there is something very special about that.”

Helga Dodwell

Chief Instructor
Helga has had a lifelong love for horses, in her youth she was a keen Member of Pony Club (achieving her B Test), and enjoyed working and hunting with the Fflint & Denbigh Hunt for many seasons before finding her passion for showing, which resulted in her competing very successfully at county level. Attending Glynllifon at 16 Helga was awarded a Level 2 National Certificate in the Management of Horses, going on to complete her BHSAI professional qualification at 18. “I really enjoy the role as Chief Instructor for Aberconwy, I bring with me the vast experience I have gained over the last 25 years coaching rallies and at camps for several branches of the Pony Club. My focus hs always been to ensure learning is fun for the children, whilst working on rider confidence and a balanced seat for flat and jumping, all of which results in building a winning partnersip between horse and rider.”

Kate McDonald

Website Coordinator
Kate’s background in digital marketing helps us to have an up-to-date presence online. Her daughter has been a Member of Aberconwy since she was 4 years old. Over the last 6 years Kate has taken great pleasure in watching her develop as a rider and a person through the guidance, help and support of the instructors, committee and her Pony Club friends. “Aberconwy is a very inclusive, supportive little Branch. One of the benefits of being a little Branch is that the instructors and committee know each Member and pony/horse really well, this then results in the groups for the rallies and camp being carefully tailored to suit each individual, which ensures that all Members get the maximum out of each session.”
