New rules for 2026 Mini Championships, with a few amendments made
The Mini Championships are designed as a fun learning championships and as a stepping stone to Regionals etc. I really don’t expect anyone over 14 years old to enter!
The Mini Championship, teams and individuals, qualifying classes are
Class 1a 40cm led – rider age 8 years and under (no whips or spurs allowed)
Class 1b 40cm assisted – rider age 11 years and under
(this means someone in the ring with the rider, but not touching the pony, and not jumping the jumps.)
Class 1c 40cm unassisted
(this means the rider is in the ring on their own)
Class 2 50cm unassisted
Class 3 60cm unassisted
If you would like to organise a qualifying competition this can be held as part of a Pony Club run team or individual show jumping competition.
Please make sure that you send the competition schedule to me prior to the event, at area15@pcuk.org
The top Branch/Centre team (not mixed teams) if less than 5 teams are entered, and the top two Branch/Centre teams if 5 or more teams entered, and top three individuals, whether they are in a team or not, at each branch team show jumping competition of the following levels: Lead Rein 40cm, Assisted 40cm, Unassisted 40cm, 50cm, and 60cm, will qualify for the Championships at the end of August 2025 at Bicton Arena.
Following your qualifying competition please send the results to me, at area15@pcuk.org and the qualifying members will be added to the Area 15 website (see below)
Each team at the Championships must include two out of the original four horse/rider combinations.
Entries are allowed from individuals or teams, team competitors will be individuals as well.
A pony may only be ridden in two classes
A combination may compete in either lead rein and assisted or assisted and unassisted at Championships.
A combination are unable to compete in the 50cm, or higher, if they have competed in either 40cm lead rein or 40cm assisted.
Any combination of horse and rider may not compete where the height is 20cm lower than that at which they have previously competed
If a combination is placed in the top 6 at the Championships, they are unable to compete at the same level the following year.
If you completed at the Pony Club Regionals Show Jumping or Eventing competition and finished with a score, you may not enter the Mini Championships.
