Lydia Hughes – Bronze Medallist

Triathlons do not end when you are too are too old for Pony Club as for many it is just the beginning.

On Saturday the 13th of June in Tarragona in Spain Lydia won the bronze medal at the European Triathlon Championships.

Lydia was a member of the Berwyn and Dee Pony Club and a member of the area 5 Tetrathlon Committee. Along with her brother Johnathon and sisters Verity and Georgie Lydia took part in  Area 5 Pony Club Triathlon and Tetrathlon competitions from being a minimus competitor up to an open competitor/ The four children had to organise themselves and learn to help each other as their Mum Andrea would be helping to run the Area 5 competitions.

Lydia also represented Area 5 Tetrathlon at the Royal Windsor horse show.The photographs of Lydia on horseback were taken at Royal Windsor.

At our recent full days tetrathlon training day at Ellesmere College competitors were lucky to have Lydia as an instructor. She delivered instruction on how to use strength and conditioning techniques to enhance performance, improve mobility and reduce the risk of injury.
