Area 5 – 2026 Tetrathlon Championships – Report
The 2026 Tetrathlon Championships took place at Offchurch Bury.
The run, shoot and cross country phases took place at Offchurch Bury whilst the swim was at the Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre in Leamington Spa.
Open Boys
- Oliver Loud, Olly of the Wynnstay achieved 1st place in the Open Boys Tetrathlon having just won the Open Boys competition the previous week at the Senior Home International Tetrathlon Competition. Olly scored 4327 points with a margin of 146 points ahead of 2nd place. Riding Arko’s Lad he achieved the optimum ride score of 1400 which only 5 of the 13 open boys achieved.
- It is worth noting that competitors from Wales and Borders took the 1st three places in the Open Boys competition.
Open Girls
- Orla Kissane ( Flint & Denbigh) was the highest placed Area 5 Open Girl closely followed by Carys Dillon ( Berwyn & Dee)
- Sophie Mulcaster ( Cheshire Hunt South) achieved both the best run and swim scores.
Intermediate Boys
- Jake Stockton ( Wynnstay ) scored 1350 on the XC. Just a slight error at the slip rail prevented Jake from achieving a 1400 ride score
Intermediate Girls
- Bethan Stephens ( Cheshire Hunt South) achieved 2nd place. Bethan riding Balnasallog Maestro scored 1400 on the ride which only 8 of the 34 girl competitors achieved.
- Of the Area 5 girls Bethan achieved best shoot and swim with Daisy Caldwell ( Cheshire Hunt South) achieving best run.
Junior Boys
- Archie Evans( the Wynnstay) came in 2nd place – just 60 points behind 1st place. Archie riding Jovial Pinball Wizard ( Tommy) scored a 1340 ride score having had just one run out. Archie had the joint best shoot score at 980.
- Casper Kissane ( Flint & Denbigh) & George Sherlock ( Wynnstay) both came in the top 20 of Junior Boys.
Junior Girls
- Zara McNamara ( East Cheshire) achieved 8th place with a total score of 4285. From Area 5 Zara shared the best shoot score of 920 with Lily Young of Berwyn & Dee with Zara achieving the best run and swim scores.
Stepping Stones Boys
- Ben Francis ( The Wynnsty & Wales and Borders ) came in 1st place and achieved a 1400 ride score on his pony Ballyard Tim. Ben ran in 3 mins 15 seconds securing the best run.
- Albert Lofthouse ( East Cheshire , Wales & Borders) achieved 8th place with a great score of 4357.
Stepping Stones Girls
- Zoe James ( Flint & Denbigh & Wales & Borders) came in 4th place with a 1400 ride score on her pony Logan and just 70 points behind 1st place. In the Stepping Stones class Zoe produced the best run and the best swim of the Area 5 girls.
- Megan Evans ( Flint & Denbigh )had a great shoot scoring 960 and Catrin Morgan ( Flint & Denbigh) had a 1400 ride score on her pony A Classic Look.
Teams
- The Area Open team came in 4th place
- Cheshire Hunt South Junior Girls came in 5th place
- Area Juniors came in 5th place
- Cheshire Hunt South Intermediate Girls came in 3rd place
- Wales and Borders red Dragons – Stepping Stones came in 2nd place
- Wales and Borders Green Dragons came in 7th place
- The Wynnstay Junior Mixed team came in 2nd place
