Junior Camp 2024

We enjoyed an amazing three days of Junior Camp with children attending from age 4 years and upwards.  Our venue was the fabulous Lower Brenchley Farm at Paddock Wood with two riding arenas and an extensive cross-country course.  We had a team of fabulous instructors consisting of Keely Harrison, Harriet Harland, Ali Hickling, Julie Shannon and our new Chief Instructor Alex Chambers all supported by our ever present camp organisers Sarah O’Neill and Hannah MacClean.

Behind the scenes were Suzy Page and Helen Hill who had both worked with Sarah and Hannah in the set up and organising duties to help make it a lovely camp.  We were so grateful to our team of camp Mum’s who ensured the ponies were well cared for, the children were watered and that the cake table was guarded!  We had some of our senior members leading ponies and supporting the younger riders and they really impressed us all with their efforts.

The demonstrations were a real highlight with Show Producer Dave Sanders from RoseBarr Stud visiting with an orphaned foal accompanied by a gorgeous two year old who he’s producing for showing.  Tom Mitchell was back again and this time addressing a loading issue in his demonstration.  The children also enjoyed a pony driving demonstration and were even given the chance to have a go!

The last day saw the children demonstrating all they had learned when they rode for the crowd of parents and carers and we finished with a presentation by DC Phillipa Jones and a BBQ.

We saw some lovely friendships formed and some great achievements as well as enjoyed a lot of laughs.
