Another fabulous day at the Dressage for our club.  For the 2nd heat at Abram, hosted by Holcombe Hunt Pony Club, we took a team of Emily Latham Taylor, Lottie Latham Taylor, Frankie Griffiths and Will Atkinson.  Everyone rode really great tests and the team finished a tremendous 2nd out of 15 teams.  We just missed 1st place by 0.08%.  Fantastic team work.  Emily and Will had fab days individually too with Emily finishing 2nd and Will joint 3rd overall out of 50+ competitors- wow!! as if that wasn’t enough, Emily also went on to win the Open Dengie qualifier and will ride in the semi final in March.  A great afternoons work – very well done.

Another soggy and windy day for the 2nd round of the winter league show jumping hosted by West Lancs at Osbaldeston. We put forward 2 teams for the under 12’s heat.  It wasn’t to be Blackburn’s day team wise but Frankie had another super day with double clear and a good time in the jump off.  Here are the team pictures.

team 1 team 2

Elle Gething had a fabulous day at West Lancs Show jumping at Aintree. Elle and her super pony Captain beat all the horses to win both the 1.05m and 1.15m classes. Very well done – what a fabulous team you two make.

We made a promising start to the show jumping winter league series hosted by West Lancs at Osbaldeston.  The team had an early set back when will’s pony came down with colic the day before the comp (now fighting fit and ready for heat 2). Not to be deterred the under tens team of Jodie, Jamie and Frankie flew the flag. Jamie and Jodie had tricky first rounds with Frankie jumping clear.  Jamie came back with a fab clear 2nd round and Jodie just had a very unlucky pole in her 2nd round.  Frankie again had a great clear round second time and went into the jump off.  She was jumping a super round until the very last fence…never mind Frankie what a fabulous start to your Blackburn pony club career.  All three members of the team were taking part in their very first competition for our club, very well done – see you all in the next round.

Erin entered the competition on her brand new gorgeous pony Giggles. Erin and Giggles haven’t even been together a month yet and they had a tricky morning but will be a force to be reckoned with for the future.  Very well tried Erin and Giggles.

Another fabulous day at Dressage for our little club yesterday, 18 October, at Abram Hall.  We kicked off the winter league hosted by Holcombe Hunt PC with a fabulous 2nd place in the team test.  Louie went one better in the Individual Intermediate Dengie competition and came 1st.  He now qualifies for the areas.  Well done to Emma and Ricki Riley and Louie Atkinson – great results everyone.

Good Friday was an eventful day for the Atkinsons – having to make an emergency call to the RAC on the way to West Lancs Easter Dressage Competition at Church Farm due to a burst tyre on the trailer (the RAC man went a little white when he realised the trailer was full of puzzle and harry), not to be put off they made the event. William took part in the introductory test and came 1st in his age category and his score was 2nd overall in the class – Fantastic William, very well done to you and puzzle.  Louie and Harry entered the Novice class and came a superb second in the class.  Well done boys – what a day! Thank you to West Lancs County for making us feel so welcome.

Another good day for our junior jumpers yesterday.  Taryn and William went to the 2nd of the Junior Show jumping events hosted by West Lancs at Pauls Farm in Leyland.  Taryn rode a fabulous double clear in the 30cm on Wicky and came third – well done Taryn.  William rode a fabulous double clear in the 45cm class and finished 1st. Well done William – 2 in a row.

Very well done you two – as always you are a credit to our club, keep up the good work.

It is a lovely friendly show for our younger members, the third and final date is sunday 22nd March.

What a fantastic day for our dressage riders on Sunday at the winter league ride off hosted by Holcombe Hunt PC and the Dengie semi final.

Ricki Riley won the final prelim class which makes her the CHAMPION!!! very well done Ricki, sister Emma was a very very close 2nd.  Emily Latham Taylor rode twice in this class as well.  All three rode very well in very wet conditions.

By the time the Open Dengie class started, so had the snow. It was a very hard Open test and the conditions were awful and very cold.  All the girls and horses were amazing.  Emily finished a fabulous third, Ricki fourth and Emma 5th.  What an amazing result for you and for our club.

dressage girls

Our Dressage training has moved to Crow Wood for 2015 (except for next month at Osbaldeston).  What a fantastic place.  Its great for our ponies and horses to experience different venues. Everyone who went on Friday had a wonderful time, especially our younger members who enjoyed endless canters – the long side is very long on a little pony!!!

Another fantastic result at the winter dressage series hosted by Holcombe Hunt PC on Sunday 1st Feb, Blackburn came 2nd on the day which means they finish the series 2nd only missing 1st place by 1 point.  What a fantastic achievement for our club  AND…. of the 8 rider/horse combinations to make it to the ride off on the 22nd, – 4 of them are from Blackburn. What a fabulous achievement – very well done to everyone who took part.  We have a fabulous team spirit and some seriously talented riders and ponies. Well done.

WOW!!! what a Sunday (11th Jan 2105) – it was the third round of the winter dressage series hosted by Holcombe Hunt PC at Abram.  Blackburn only went and won it again!!

The day started off with a wardrobe catastrophe so after a quick jacket swap (thank you Lottie!), Louie and Lottie entered the Novice Dengie class. Louie ended on 63.8 and Lottie 63.4.

P12 came next….Huge well done to the team:- Ricki Riley, Lottie and Emily Latham Taylor and Louie Atkinson.  You all rode really well in really windy conditions.  Special congratulations to Ricki who won the prelim class with 73.6% and to Emily who was second, on the same percentage.  Lottie came overall 7th (67.6) and Louie just behind on 66%.  A fantastic effort and great scores from everyone in a class of 45 competitors!!!

Emily also won the Dengie Open class and has qualified for the next round with a fab score of 67.4%

It was the third round of the team show jumping at Osbaldeston on 4th January and again the weather did its best to spoil things….not to be deterred were Louie Atkinson on Harry, Francesca Barnes on Silver, Lottie Latham Taylor on Casper and Ricki Riley on Copper. Louie and Francesca were clear after the first round, and Francesca made it through on double clear to the jump off, unfortunately having one pole down so were not placed.  It was not Blackburn’s day this time but very well ridden everyone, it was a bitterly cold day and you all did very well – your club is very proud of you all.  Again massive thank you to Tricia and Ricki for amazing pictures.

Louie Atkinson with Harry had a fabulous day and jumped double clear.  He then went in the jump off as an individual and finished 8th out of 106 who started the day.  Well done Louie.
