Cotley Hunt Summer Camp 2025

Following the success of Camp 2024, 18 of our members returned to Toomer Farm for our Summer Camp 2025. Riders enjoyed a packed programme of riding, learning and fun, making the most of everything camp life has to offer.

Camp Opening Night – It’s a Knock Out

After settling their ponies and making up their own beds, the first evening was all about It’s a Knock Out. Win or lose, everyone got wet and had a lot of fun — the perfect start to camp.

Riding & Activities

Four rides, led by four excellent instructors, followed a jam-packed agenda including flatwork, show jumping, cross country, stable management, a hack to the gallops and plenty of Pony Club games

Badges, Learning & Tests

Over the course of camp, more than 100 badges were gained. Roland’s farrier talk led to riders achieving their shoeing badge, while Michael brought along a mechanical horse to teach race riding and balance skills — earning the Introduction to Pony Racing badge and providing the perfect preparation for the gallops.

  • 4 riders achieved their C Test (Riding)

  • 4 riders gained their D+ Test

  • 7 riders achieved their D Test

Young Equestrian Leaders

Many of our older members were working towards their Bronze Young Equestrian Leaders Award and were able to log valuable volunteering hours by helping younger riders settle into camp and care for their ponies.

Evenings at Camp

Evening entertainment included hobby horse dressage and show jumping, but most importantly riders had time to relax, unwind and enjoy each other’s company.

Final Day & Prize Giving

Camp finished with Pony Club games and prize giving. Instructors provided written feedback for each rider and were thanked for being such fantastic coaches throughout the week.

Freya was awarded the Camp Trophy for embodying the true spirit of camp — and was also the highest point scorer in the daily competition.

A Huge Thank You

Catering was voted outstanding by both campers and helpers, so a huge thank you to Jill for all her hard work throughout the week.
