Provisionally booked (if COVID guidelines allow): CAMP 2021 will be 26th July – 30th July for full camp at Wellington Riding

NEWS for 2020 (and some 2019)

Camp 2020: Despite all things Covid we managed to run a 3 day camp for all at Wellington without the camping!! with over 30 members from 4 to 18 years old enjoying all the wonderful facilities at Wellington Riding.  Lots of fun had in their ‘bubbles’ and with happy exhausted ponies by the end.  Lots of badges achieved and some E and D tests awarded, well done all!

Our monthly badge rallies continued until lockdown and then a number of badges awarded using remote learning.  We held lots of fun competitions  remotely during lockdown to keep moral up along with a ‘loo roll challenge’ video that had almost all members involved and proved a great success.

Excellent results from the Area 14 National Eventing Qualifiers 2019. Sadly we were down to just two individuals competing for the Craven. First on Lucy, following a 3.40am start she and Spider produced a beautiful dressage test to achieve 29.8 followed by a double clear (with just a small speeding ticket!) to be placed 3rd and qualifying for the National Championships at Chomondeley Castle in August. Next Mia and Prince competing in their first proper horse trials, the combination produced a calm and obedient dressage test with a couple of blips in both the show jumping and x-country but still finished 11th, showing how tough both the show jumping and x-country were. This is definitely a combination to watch for the future.

In June  the Craven took part in the Area 14 Dressage Qualifiers 2019, and were the winning branch team with Emily 1st Individually and Connie 6th in the Open, qualifying for the Pony Club Championships. Great results in other classes including Allanah coming 7th individually in the Intermediate and others just out of the placings. Thank you to all for making the journey especially fabulous trainer Ali for being there from start to finish.

Sadly our show 2020 was cancelled but our Craven Show 2019 was a Great day for the Craven members at our show on Saturday!  Team wins in the 65cm and 95cm SJ in Ring 1 plus some great individual placings too for new girls Bella and Sophie!
Wins for Ella, Millie (and Joe the dog) and Nicole in Ring 2 with lots of our members getting placed!
A win for Mair on Sky in the showing ring for best PC pony!
No wins in the dressage ring but lots of smart riders and their ponies doing us all proud!
Thank you so much to the following for coming along and taking part, especially those who were competing for the first time or taking a step up as lots of you did – proud of all of you:-
Poppy, Mollie, Elsa, Mair, Isla, Tabitha, Jemima, Mollie, Millie, Bella, Sophie, Charlotte, Elsie, Nell, Evelyn, Martha, Imogen, Olivia, Jess, Ella, Charlie, Nicole, Amelie, Harrison and our youngest member Zac(aged 3!!)

In July 2019 a number of our parents and members went to Marlborough College to listen to Clare Balding talk.  A fantastic event for all.

Dressage team trip 2019! 10 members earn their field safety badge in June. A wonderful experience this evening with 9 craven members of all ages and parents watching the Wellington Premier League Gala evening with Ali. Being able to listen to Ali explaining what we were seeing was amazing. We also got to chat behind the scenes with Liz Diegutis about riding at this level and met her beautiful horse Ruby who seemed to enjoy the cuddles!

Grassroots Dressage success 2019: After months of hard work and team practices and with 5 teams entered – all 5 placed with Craven winning overall! An amazing day with Ali Surrey Dane co ordinating and supporting everyone amazingly.  Well done all involved!

Great to take some teams to the Vine PC SJ at Wellington in May. Few minor issues but great team spirit including welcoming two lovely new members and their ponies! Best result was a 3rd place out of 59 competitors for Millie and Dusty in the 85cm class! Really well done to all though as a lot of you were stepping up in height!  Thanks as usual to all the parents and supporters especially all of those who sat in a massive traffic jam on the way home!!

Some more of our adult volunteers completed their first aid qualifications early in 2020 with new members of our committee helping keep things going.

Fantastic effort from Dulcie in April to gain her B Test Riding. Thank you to Sarah and Ali for helping her to achieve her goal. Onwards and upwards Lunge Test next.

Well done to Lucy Pope for passing her B Test care and riding at the end of August – all that hard work paid off.
