As a Pony Club, we encourage members to follow some simple guidelines, in the most part for safety and comfort, but also to show they’re part of our branch.

This encourages a sense of belonging and team spirit as well as pride.

Mounted Rally

Rider:
  • Plain beige or white jodhpurs.
  • White shirt with pony club tie.
  • Show or tweed jacket. (No Bling!) The official Pony Club membership badge is worn on the left lapel, with any test felt earned displayed underneath.
  • Black or brown long riding boots or jodhpur boots with chaps, clean and polished
  • Long hair must be securely tied back and in a hairnet.
  • Gloves must be worn for riding.
  • Plain blue or black hat with chinstrap fastened when mounted. Please see hat rule below.
  • If XC then Dartmoor/ plain colour skin with sleeves is to be worn.
  • Spurs – Spurs are only to be worn IF riders have completed spurs training and completed the test. Riders will receive a yellow tag or their hat once passed. There are NO exceptions. This is for all Pony Club training, rallies and events.

Mounted Rally

Pony:
  • All tack should be clean and in good repair.
  • Check stitching especially on reins, stirrup leathers and girths
  • Ponies should be clean, well-groomed AND PLAITED. We understand plaiting is not always possible (native breeds will have a dispensation).

There are points awarded for T&T at our rallies and our DC will award a cup at the end of the year, so please make the effort!

Training session

Rider:
  • DPC sweatshirt or polo shirt in the summer. NO HOODIES allowed.
  • Beige or white jodphurs.
  • Black or brown long riding boots or jodhpur boots with chaps, clean and polished
  • Long hair must be securely tied back and in a hairnet.
  • Gloves must be worn for riding.
  • Plain blue or black hat with chinstrap fastened when mounted. Please see hat rule below.
  • XC colours can be worn in XC session.
  • Ponies should be clean and tack should be clean and in good repair.
  • Spurs – Spurs are only to be worn IF riders have completed spurs training and completed the test. Riders will receive a yellow tag or their hat once passed. There are NO exceptions. This is for all Pony Club training, rallies and events.
Pony:
  • All tack should be clean and in good repair.
  • Check stitching especially on reins, stirrup leathers and girths
  • Ponies should be clean and well-groomed.

For Non-Ridden Rallies

  • DPC sweatshirts to be worn.
  • Please wear suitable footwear.
  • Bring riding hats and gloves if you’re handling ponies (grooming, loading, first aid etc).

Competitions 

  • Ponies to be plaited for all area, regional and national competitions. Plaiting at other competitions is at the discretion of the D.C.
  • White numnah with DPC logo. Numnahs can be taken to Stick and Stitch Workwear | Stick n Stitch design | Wrangaton at Wrangaton and our branch will cover the cost of the embroidery. Please ensure the numnah is clean and the logo is correctly positioned.
  • For XC, Tetrathlon and Arena Eventing we kindly ask you to purchase a set of DPC XC skins if possible.

Dartmoor Pony Club official kit and sundries

DPC clothing and general PC sundries such as badges, ties, scrunchies, stocks and kit bags can be ordered directly from the Pony Club shop

  • Select the item and size you require.
  • Add Branch name as Dartmoor. 
  • Select our Branch colour as Navy. 
  • Select the colour of printing/embroidery as white. 
  • Add any personalisation if required.

Achievement Badges can be sewn on to your branch sweatshirt.
