Why we need Volunteers
We rely upon the help of parents, grandparents, carers or older members to run the wide variety of competitions we organise each year. This year there are 10 competitions, including the Cheshire Shield Horse Trials, but without volunteers we would be unable to arrange these events
To be a volunteer, you don’t need to have any experience as there are all sorts of roles including making tea, collecting score sheets, pole picking, stewarding, dressage writing or whistle blowing. Helping at an event is fun and it’s a great experience to be part of the organising team.
Information About Volunteering
The East Cheshire Pony Club volunteers are organised by Sally Harris. You can volunteer to help at as many events as you like, but you are required to volunteer for a full day’s duty per member. If it is not possible for you to do a full day, please volunteer for two half days per member. A set up day only counts as a 1/2 day, but you should not volunteer for 2 set up days, as these days usually only require the help of a few parents for a couple of hours.
It is important to keep a note in your diary or on your calendar of the dates you have volunteered to help. You will be contacted by email or telephone a couple of weeks before the event, either by the event organiser or Sally. A few days before the event you will be advised of your role and told what time you will need to arrive at the competition.
If for any reason you are unable to do your days duty or need to swop dates, please contact Sally as soon as possible.
If your child is competing at an event, please let Sally know and we will try to organise your duties around your child’s class(es).
Important Information
The Camp Selection Policy is on the East Cheshire website, and this states “there will be an expectation that the parent/guardian/carer has volunteered for at least one Branch competition or event since the 1st January of the current year”.
If you are unsure about anything to do with Volunteering please contact Sally on 07775 882632.
