Welcome to Tetrathlon!
What is it?
Tetrathlon is one of the traditional pony club sports and consists of 4 phases: pistol shooting, swimming, cross country riding and running. The best thing about tetrathlon it is all about having a go and having fun. Contrary to popular belief there is no need to be an amazing runner or swimmer or do lots of training if you don’t want to!
Every year there are lots of competitions. They start with triathlons in the winter (shoot, swim and run) with a national championships at the end of March. Then tetrathlon season starts with competitions around the country. These 2 day competitions involve camping most of the time and lots of fun! There is a team and individual competition at area level qualifying to the national championships, held at Offchurch Bury in August and junior and senior international competitions.
Why do it?
It is a unique sport and renowned for being one of the friendliest sports in pony club where friends are made for life. So if you fancy doing a challenging but rewarding sport where the only important part is to come and have a go for some serious fun, then come and join us!
Training
Shooting Training
Shooting coaching sessions vary from individual lessons to group lessons. Guns can be borrowed and no experience is necessary at all.
Shooting training is on Monday evenings at Mill Run
Running Training
Running training will start in the spring after shooting when daylight allows.
Swimming Training
Swimming training is going to be on Friday evenings at Kings School Macclesfield (watch this space)
Cross-Country Riding Training
The cross country course in tetrathlon is a rider course and with this is mind we are starting in the new year a series of sessions teaching the art if skinnies, angled fences and riding the correct line among other skills.
General cross-country training is combined with eventing training. See the Eventing page for upcoming rallies
If you would like to come and join us then please give me (Rachel) a call and we would love to see you at some sessions soon!
