We’re delighted with the success of our Open ODE held at Forgandenny. Many thanks to all of the sponsors, over 100 volunteers, over 250 entrants and especially to our hosts Douglas and Mandy Edwards for the use of their amazing venue. See the ODE page for links to the official photographer and to the results.

Our final dressage league and some wonderful tests. Some of the league overall winners. Well done everyone!

Well done to our Horse and Pony Care team, who came 2nd out of 13 teams at the Area competition at Hayfield in Aberdeen.

We had a fantastic start to the Summer Programme with a brilliant turnout for the Easter rally. A bit windy, but sunshine all day. Lots of fun with friends old and new. Well done to Corinna and the rest of the team for putting on a fabulous day.

Our members have been out and about recently and have had some excellent results. Hannah Young has been selected for the Scottish Tetrathlon team to compete at Windsor Horse Trials.
Libby Clark has also been selected to represent Scotland in the dressage teams and Bubble Pratt in the Scottish games team, all at Windsor.
These are amazing results , all the years of hard work, lessons and practise have paid off! More great results  too at the Dengie semi finals at the Cabin in Aberdeenshire. Becky Starkey braved the snow and blizzards and won the Elementary dressage and then went on to win the Dengie and qualified to go South. Becky then went on to compete in the Dengie show jumping today, where she was second and again qualified to go south.
Well done all!!
We always like to hear how our members are doing when they are out and about. Please don’t be shy and drop us an email with your results!

The Mini Programme (MP) is a series of rallies, events and camp aimed at those that are new to riding, lead rein, wibbly wobblies or riding for a while and would like to improve their confidence.

The MP will be run at a gentle pace with lots of fun activities and plenty of helpers.

tbc     Mini Camp – A full day of activities for members under PC 8 years.

Pony Club Games – as a Club, Fife are very active in Pony Club Games.  There are regular practices with a section specifically for MP members – if you would like to give it a try, please contact Sally Brown at sal@eastergrangemuir.co.uk.  Practices are held at Ovenstone Equestrian (usually indoors) at the weekend, until 09/05/19, when they move to Balcormo as part of the Thursday Club Nights.

Summer Club Nights – Thursdays evenings starting 09/05/19 at Balcormo.  Full club rallies, open to all members.  Lessons, Badges and Talks.

It is worth noting that most FPC events and rallies are open to all ages and stages, so MP members are not constrained to only attend MP get togethers.

As you will all be aware, there is an outbreak of Equine Flu in Britain. There is a lot of information out there and from your own vets, so please make yourselves aware of this and take appropriate precautions. More and more centres, facilities and organisations are now requesting that all ponies and horses must be vaccinated and within the last 6 months. All the bigger organisations like BE, BS and BD are going to be implementing these rules, so my advice to all our members is to get in touch with your vets now and arrange for this booster vaccination, if you are wanting to be competing this spring and summer. Also, it will be necessary if you are wanting to attend our rallies and training this spring as the centres we use will be requesting them.
Please get these vaccinations in plenty of time as you cannot go out and about within a week of the injection, but also so you are covered for the majority of the season!
It is a mine field, but please do get in touch if you have any questions or queries. If your pony/horse has fallen behind with their injections, even by one day, then you will have to restart the vaccinations again, and not go out and about until after the second injection. If your pony has not been injected, then you cannot go out and about until after the second injection.
REMEMBER TO ALWAYS travel with your horse’s passport. The passport should be with the horse at all times. Please note that passports will be getting checked at all centres, facilities and organisations and any horse failing to produce a passport or insufficient vaccinations will be turned away and any other horses travelling in that vehicle.
All PC members should get your vets to double check passports and make sure they meet with these requirements before the season fully starts and should bring passports to officials at our events, for checking, before they unload. Thank you all in advance for following these guidelines and protecting our four legged friends.
Any queries, please get in touch.

Another good turnout and some lovely tests at our February dressage league. The results are on the dressage page for your information. The league is for all ages and stages and riders can come to 1 day or all days and anything in-between. It is a chance to run through current tests and get confident and practiced with riding dressage tests and get some pointers from your judges as to where you can improve your scores. So, if you are reading this and thinking, “I should have entered this”, then it’s not too late. We have two more league dates, Sunday 17th March and Sunday 14th April, both at Netherton, and both on our online booking system. Riders can do 1 test or 2, and tests can be read out if necessary. It is a relaxed, informal, friendly day, with a cafe for those wee snacks, drinks and meals and tests indoor out of the winter weather.

Thanks to all who came to the dressage on 13th January. The results for this and the cumulative league are on the dressage page.
Games sessions are starting up again after a much needed and well earned rest over the winter. Anyone who would like more information on this, please contact Sally Brown 07974 383991 sal@eastergrangemuir.co.ukand keep an eye on fb. Games is open to all pc members up to the age of 15 and is a fantastic, fun activity within the pony club. We hope to have teams in the novice , junior and senior competitions this year, so please come along and give it a try!
Quiz practices are still ongoing and its never too late to join in. A fantastic indoor, non pony activity, gaining knowledge in all things horsey! Contact Fiona Morrison on 07789 847553 fionahmorrison@yahoo.com or Sally Brown 07974 383991 sal@eastergrangemuir.co.uk.
