Tetrathlon Championships 2024

The JCB Pony Club Championships opened last week with the Tetrathlon alongside Mounted Games and Polocrosse. We had 3 qualifying competitors in the Tet; Zoe Hooper, Jess Rainbow and Josie Reid.

Results:

Zoe, who won the Girls Mini section at Areas, was then selected to represent Central England in the prestigious Steppingstones Championships. This involved a turning target 7m shoot, 1000m run, a 2 minute swim and an 80 Arena Eventing ride. Zoe was in a hugely competitive section of girls aged up to 12 from across the UK. She had a strong score in all phases with a super clear – just 4 time faults stopping her getting a 1400 full mark ride score. With a fantastic score of 4091, she finished 26th and her mixed team came 7th. Well done, Zoe!

Jess moved up into the Intermediate Girls (ages 15-25) category this year, where she shot 10m turning targets 1 handed, ran 1500m, swam 3 mins and jumped a very technical, full up PC100 XC course. In another highly competitive field, she scored well across the board and was thrilled with the way Fred took on the technical lines. She finished 35th. Super job, Jess.

Josie also moved up into the Open Girls category this year, having won Intermediate Girls last year. This is similar to the above, but the XC is 105 and therefore tends to have the older, more experienced girls competing. This year was an International year, resulting in a lot of extra competitors, especially from Ireland – most of whom snagged the top prizes! Having been poorly in Ireland, Josie regained some of her previous form across the tri phases and was relieved with 16th place, including a 1400 ride and a Bronze award, which is given to Open competitors based on their scores across the phases.

Thank you!

The biggest shout out goes to our supporters and volunteers; Nic, Jemima, Vikki and Molly. You were absolutely brilliant to come along and helped make the weekend the huge success it was. Tet is renowned for its social aspect (the 5th element of Tet is the party!), and this year was no exception – we had a great gang from Area 12 and this was extended with friends made from all across the UK, Australia, USA and New Zealand. Roll on the next one…Herts Hunt 6th October at Wakes End. Entries will be opening soon on the Calendar page.
