Blue Cross Quiz Championships Report

Please contact me to join us in the quiz line up for 2025. The Quiz’s are a great way to support learning how to care for your horses and ponies to keep them happy and healthy.

We need at least one member between age 5 and 8 on the 1st of Jan 2025, there is an opportunity for everyone, no matter how young or inexperienced.

We had a fun and successful few days at the Quiz champs with a record for Flamstead of having a team qualify in each section. The best teams from as far as Orkney and Ireland came to the Pony club champs to compete.

The Horse and Pony care Quiz involved demonstrating skills and knowledge in areas such as welfare, loading, tack, feeds, first aid and injuries.

Our Mini team: Hugo, Violet and Leila came a fantastic 11^th out of 47 teams to come home in the placing’s with a rosette. The knowledge was well in to C test level, not just the easy parts.

Our Junior team: Chloe, Zoe and Nicole came home with the 7^th place rosette answering questions well into C plus level, some beyond which is amazing for their age and current D plus badge held.

Our seniors were a young team in this section. They competed against experienced and fully qualified Horse riding instructors and vets. Iz Anderton, Tamar and Emily showed great skills and knowledge to come  18^th out of 37 teams. Only just out of the Rosettes, but well into showing an extremely high level of knowledge and skills.

I am really pleased with the effort and knowledge all of these members have shown throughout the competition.
