Area Spring Festival Qualifiers

Arena Eventing

We had a fantastic turn out from Flamstead members at Bury farm this weekend for the Area 12 Spring Festival qualifiers.  These were for those jumping 70-1m and each class comprised of 18 jumps, starting with show jumps and then moving on to XC jumps in the same arena.  It was a long tiring round, which included some tough lines and some very skinny brush fences!  Being an Area 12 qualifier it was never going to be easy, and this was shown through each class, which only had a handful of clear rounds within the optimum time.  This year the team rules had unfortunately been changed to only 3 in a team (with each score counting) so we were aware everyone may have felt under more pressure.

We were so so proud of all the kids and their ponies to take on this challenging course, and delighted we could also celebrate some successes – Our 70cm Flamstead Flyers team of Violet, Sienna and Zoe stormed to 1st place out of 11 teams and qualified, with Sienna finishing in a fantastic 2nd, and Violet 10th individually.  Gwen narrowly missed out on the rosettes in the 80cm and Holly came 8th in the 90cm.  Isobel then finished the day in style clearing the 1m course for 2nd place and qualifying individually for the Championships which are at Addington on 1st and 2nd March.
It was lovely to see Flamstead riders and ponies turned out so well,(thankyou for plaiting!) and the kids supporting each other throughout.  We have some exciting XC rallies planned in the new year, so will look forward to sharing those with you shortly

We had an amazing 14 members competing:  We are pleased to be sending 5 Flamstead members to the National spring festival finals in March: Maisie, Josie, Megan, Holly and Sienna.
PC80 Individual win and qualification for the finals for Sienna (73%). An amazing team 4th for  Molly ( 67%, individual 5th), Flora, and Sophia (individual 7th). Other members of the PC80 teams included Sasha, Violet, Ciara, Florence, and Zoe.
Novice class included Penny,  Sasha, Megan and Sienna with outstanding individual results in a very competitive class; Megan (71%, 2nd)  with a Qualification for a place in the final, and Sienna (68%, 3rd).
Intermediate Class result was truly amazing for all of our members to be on their way to the National spring festival finals! The winning team of Maisie (71%, individual 2nd), Josie (68%, individual 4th)  and Megan and Holly (68%, 3rd with qualification as an individual).
Open Class member Iz M was unlucky not to qualify this year with an individual 4th place and a very pleasing  66% test score.
We would like to thank all of the members that supported the branch by competing, it is great to have some newer competitors between the boards achieving such excellent test results. Ciara, Florence and Sophia all new to competing with Flamstead in dressage, but already securing scores around 66%. Just amazing.
