Ivel Valley Show
Flamstead had a huge entry at the Ivel Valley show at Bury Farm last weekend. This show, like the upcoming Flamstead Christmas Show, is part of the new Area 12 winter SJ league.
There was a very early start for our 40cm team of Molly, Charlotte and Madison, who all deserve a rosette, along with their parents, for making the early course walk! All three riders jumped beautiful rounds and are looking very established at this level.
The 50 class had a huge entry. This is a height that Flamstead has been very dominant at in recent years and the team didn’t disappoint, taking team 1st, with Hugo, Euan and Cecily making it a 1, 2, 3 riding some unbelievably fast tight jump off lines. Flo, Madison and Molly completed a clean sweep of clear rounds for Flamstead in this class, showcasing some lovely neat riding.
Flamstead put forward 2 teams in the 60cm class, a lovely mix of established combinations, older children with new ponies as well as some younger members trying out this level for the first time.
Once again it was a Flamstead team win! Hugo, Frank and Liv jumped super fast clear rounds, joined by Chloe with an even faster round but an unlucky pole. Flamstead’s strength and depth at this height was emphasised by the team of Euan, Violet, Molly and Florence taking 3rd place. Individually Flamstead filled 4 of the top 10 spots, with Hugo 2nd, Euan 4th, Frank 5th and Violet 7th.
The 70cm class was up to height, including a double and some interesting turns. Flamstead had 9 riders in this class and once again managed to put forward a winning team, with both Chloes and Zoe putting in super fast clear rounds, leaving their team a full 18 seconds clear at the top, which is a huge winning margin. The second Flamstead team of Liv, Flora, Florence and Violet put in lovely if rather more steady rounds to secure 4th place.
Consistency really was the name of the game for Flamstead in this class, with 7 of our 9 riders jumping lovely clears. Individually, Chloe I was 3rd, Zoe 4th, Chloe M 9th, Liv 11th, Frank 13th and Flora and Florence not far behind.
Moving on up to the 80cm, Flamstead again put forward 2 teams, including some very new partnerships and several riders jumping their first 80s. They all acquitted themselves beautifully, with the teams finishing in 5th and 6th place. Zoe and Chloe I put in tremendously fast rounds to take the top spot (well done Zoe!) and third individually, which is a huge achievement. Jemima and Federica also both jumped lovely stylish clear rounds.
There were very few clears around a big 90cm track, but the Flamstead team of Federica, Chloe, Nicole and Jemima kept the flag flying for Flamstead by taking team 2nd. Federica jumped a super clear round on her lovely new mare to take individual 2nd place with Jemima, Nicole and Chloe following up on 4 faults each for 10th, 11th and 12th place.
Overall it was a fantastic day for our Flamstead SJ riders. Not just the obvious team and individual wins (huge well done to all these riders) but also with all of the new combinations who performed so well, and the younger riders trying out new levels. It was lovely, as always, to see the members all supporting each other.
What an excellent build up to the Flamstead Christmas Show!
