Bury Farm Showjumping
Flamstead’s show jumpers have had a busy two weekends on the bounce at Bury Farm, first at the Whaddon Chase show and then last weekend at the Ivel Valley show. It was fabulous to see so many members representing Flamstead, we are so lucky to be a large enough club to put together teams for these events, it really enables the children to support and encourage each other. The amazing results speak for themselves…..
Flamstead have very established riders and teams at both 50 and 60 cm and the confidence and consistency at this level (and some friendly intra-team rivalry!) was on full display at both shows.
At the Whaddon Chase show, Euan won his 50 section by 5 seconds, with just an unlucky 4 faults for Kiera after a super speedy round.
At Ivel Valley the 50 team took first place, with Hugo just pipping Euan to the individual win, Charlotte C jumping a lovely clear round and Cecily taking the ‘save of the day’ prize when doing amazingly to stick an uncharacteristic spook on Coco.
The 60 teams have been virtually unbeatable this year and, true to form, won their class at both shows. At Whaddon Chase there were super fast double clears by Hugo, Jess, Kiera and Euan and at Ivel Valley Hugo and Euan again showed that boys can be very fast, although they were hotly pursued by Cecily and Flo. Hugo won the class at both shows with the lovely Tom and it will be lovely to see this partnership develop in the 2025/2026 season.
The 70cm classes saw some new combinations and children stepping up to new heights at both shows. At Whaddon Chase, the team finished a super 2nd with Jess O 6th, Nicole 9th and Jess H 10th on her 70cm debut.
At Ivel Valley the team went one better and the class was won with 4 classy clear rounds from Nicole, Flo, Violet and Hugo, with Nicole finishing 2nd and Hugo 4th, Violet 7th and Flo 10th individually. Flamstead’s second team of Violet, Kiera and Lilly-May also put in a super showing to take team 5th.
The 80cm team has also been very dominant this year and, true to form, Flamstead won this class at the Whaddon Chase Show, with super clears from Zoe (2nd), Chloe (5th) and Nicole (6th) and just an uncharacteristic 4 faults from Sienna.
The following week at Ivel Valley a team of 3 had no room for error but Jemima H, Violet and Erin jumped 3 super safe clears to take team 2nd with Flamstead’s other team of Nicole, Chloe, Violet and Zoe finishing in 7th. Super fast rounds secured individual placings for Jemima (2nd) and Chloe (3rd).
Moving on the 90cm, things become rather serious with full width spreads and technical distances. It is fabulous that we can put together a team at this height and at the Ivel Valley show that team of Chloe, Jemima, Bella and Erin jumped beautifully to take 2nd place with Bella taking the individual win! At the Whaddon Chase show Chloe had an unlucky 4 faults to finish 9th.
Flamstead again had a team at 1m at the Ivel Valley show, and that team won with beautiful double clears from Bella (3rd), Josie (6th) and Molly (7th). Last of the day was the 1m10 class with Josie, Flamstead’s sole representative, finishing 5th.
A huge well done to all of our members for your team spirit and dedication to your ponies and your riding, from 2 very proud team managers.
Rosie and Jules.
