South Herts Show Report

Last Saturday was the S. Herts Dressage and Show Jumping show – the final indoor showjumping show of the season, and the last chance to gain points in the Area 12 Winter Points league. We had an excellent Flamstead turnout in both dressage and show jumping and somewhat of a clean sweep of the placings, more details below….
The dressage took place outside in glorious sunshine and it was great to see so many Flamstead members taking part. In the PC70 Araiya did a beautiful test on her lovely mare to finish on an impressive 72% and win the class. A lovely test from Flora put her in second on Elvis with Euan following on in 4th.
In the Grassroots PC80, Araiya yet again won by a clear margin on 71%. Flora followed up with a very solid 68% for third, on the same mark as Penny in 4th and closely followed by Amelie (67%). A very well done to all of our dressage divas.
Meanwhile in the International Indoor things were getting rather interesting over the coloured poles. In the 50cm our fabulous team of Euan, Hugo and Esme secured a win by a solid margin. Euan, defending his lead in the Area 12 league, took the individual win with Hugo in hot pursuit in 2nd.
Moving on to the 60cm, Hugo and Jess were neck and neck in the Area 12 league going into the day. These two have been flying all winter at this height but a momentary course error from Jess gave Hugo the chance to secure both 1st and 2nd, with Euan following close behind in 3rd. Kiera was a speedy 7th on her lovely pony Archie. The Flamstead team of Hugo, Kiera and Ciara finished 1st, with the team of Hugo, Euan and Jess in 3rd.
Next up was the 70cm, with Flamstead yet again able to put forward two teams. Individually, Zoe took the win on the ever-speedy Tom, with Nicole in 2nd and Lyra in 4th, it was lovely to see Lyra’s pony Marmite returning to competition after a break. The team of Zoe, Jess, Chloe and Nicole was 1st with Kiera, Lyra and Annie’s team a solid 3rd.
In the 80cm we, unusually, did not have a team but Zoe made up for that by winning the class in spectacular style and nearly 10 seconds!
What a way to finish the indoor jumping season, with individual and team wins in the 50, 60 and 70 and a raft of individual placings. We are so proud of all of our Flamstead riders and how much they have improved across the winter, hopefully the consistency, determination and team spirit continues into the summer months and the outdoor season.
