Bishop Burton PC110 Championships

We sent our three most experienced event riders from the Flamstead Pony Club to compete in the CCI 2S  at Bishop Burton which ran with British Eventing’s Festival of Youth Championships: Olivia Fisher & Moose, Erin Neale & Sophie and Josie Reid & Beano.

All three girls produced good dressage tests, with Olivia leading the trio with one of her best tests to date. The Cross Country followed the dressage; the course was very technical and big, with lots of questions. It was definitely the biggest track the girls had done yet. We walked the Course three times and the girls knew every line and every long route very thoroughly. All three of them attacked it and rode brilliantly. Erin jumped clear with just a few time faults, Olivia had a very unfortunate run out when Moose jumped too boldly off a very big step. Josie flew round super confidently finishing bang on the optimum time.

The following morning there was a Horse inspection to check that the horses were fit and well to compete in the showjumping, all three horses flew through.

It is always tricky showjumping the day after the horses have run cross country. Erin and Sophie jumped a lovely round, just lowering one pole. Olivia and Moose jumped a beautiful clear round, while Josie picked up a few faults after getting a difficult distance to an upright off a tricky turn.

Erin finished best of the Flamstead riders in 6th, with Liv behind her in 7th and Josie in 8th. The Flamstead team won the Pony Club team competition, and Flamstead will have their name engraved on that trophy for the first time ever. This is a very impressive result, and something both myself and all the girls and their teams are extremely proud of.
