Area 12 Eventing Champs and FPC Hunter Trials

We had another fantastic day at the pony club field hosting the Area 12 One Day Event Championships, and our ever popular hunter trials.  The 40cm class kicked things off, starting with a walk/trot dressage test, followed by show jumping and then cross country fences in the pen.  Rose, Penny and Elsie all rode for Flamstead, and Rose took the win with the lovely Pebbles, finishing on her fantastic dressage score of 30.  Elsie and Playboy came 4th, and Penny and Roo 5th.  Great riding from all the girls well done!

The 50cm class followed with Mia flying the flag for Flamstead on her lovely pony Tilly. The 50cm moved on to the main XC course, and they were the only pair in the class to ride clear both SJ and XC and took the win on their dressage score of 37.5!  Well done Mia!  We then had yet more success in the 60cm class, with Flo and Crispin riding a beautiful double clear to win the class on their dressage score of 33.2, closely followed by sister Cecily on Morgan, with another double clear and only a few marks behind in the dressage to take 3rd.  Euan followed in 6th place.
These classes are a great introduction to eventing, you can qualify with completing a cross country round through the year with a maximum of 2 stops, so is very encouraging and a fun wait to compete at all 3 disciplines.  We hope to see even more of our younger members having a go at this next year!
Running alongside the One Day Event were our Hunter Trial classes.  Belle Paul and Brandy won the 50cm class, followed by Holly C and Roger completing clear and closest to the optimum time to win the 60cm!  Gwen came 4th, Kiera and Charlotte joint 5th, and Sammy 7th.  There was also the fun pairs class at 60cm, and Molly and Lilly May stormed round to claim 1st place!  Ex FPC DC Gordon, with son and ex FPC member Hamish took 2nd, also winning the most stylish jump!
We then started getting bigger, and the 70cm class saw Ellie taking 2nd place with a lovely clear.  Zach stormed round the 80cm to finish 4th, and Chloe 7th.  We then had our second pairs class, which was at 80cm, and Chloe and Nicole rode a fantastic clear together to win the class, also getting the most stylish prize!  Amy and Annie finished 3rd.
We finished the day with the 90cm class, where Florence and Molly D both rode lovely clears to finish 3rd and 4th respectively.
A huge well done to all our members who competed, it was lovely to see the fun had by all, and a reminder at how lucky we are to have such an incredible field to train on, and be able to hold such fun, friendly competitions!  Look out for more chances to compete here next year!
