Area 12 Showjumping Championships

The younger Flamstead riders had a fabulous day on Sunday 27th October at the Area 12 Championships.
This competition is aimed at 70 and under riders who have jumped a double clear in a PC competition in the last 12 months. It’s a two round competition with the first round outdoors then the competition moves inside for an up-to-height and spooky second round. There are open classes that run for those who haven’t qualified for the championship.
The day started off with Lucy Aylward flying the flag for Flamstead in the 40cm. A couple of small mistakes in her first round but then a fabulous clear in the second round made this a great start to the day for Flamstead.
Next was our 50cm team of Hugo, Cecily, Araiya and Mia, who have had a great year, with several riders stepping up from the winning 40cm team at Interbranch. 4 fabulous double clears gave them a well deserved win with Hugo, Cecily and Araiya taking individual 3rd, 4th and 5th. In the open class at this height Ciara secured a fabulous 5th on her lovely new pony, and she then repeated the same result in the 60.
The 60 team of Frank, Chloe, Hugo and Violet started well, with 4 clears in the first round. A couple of uncharacteristic 4 fault rounds around a tricky indoor course saw the team drop slightly to 3rd, but there were excellent double clears and well deserved individual placing for Hugo and Violet.
The 70 team of Sienna, Zoe, Chloe and Nicole have been very dominant this year and they reinforced that dominance with 3 faultless double clears giving them an amazing team win and individual 1st place for Chloe, with Zoe and Sienna in hot pursuit.
By now it was dark and everyone was very ready to go home but the Open 80 was still to run indoors and Charlie Rainbow finished the day in style for Flamstead with a fabulous clear around a big track.
There were too many fabulous individual performances to list but special mention needs to go to those competing in their first Area 12 champs (Lucy, Mia and Harvey) and the amazing individual results of Hugo, Zoe, Cecily, Araiya, Violet, Sienna, Chloe and Charlie.
