Area 12 Showjumping Qualifiers

The day started with a very inexperienced 40cm team jumping their socks off to all go clear and secure a very respectable team 6th, congratulations Rory, Charlotte C and Charlotte M!
The pace then picked up in a hugely competitive and large 50cm class, where both speed and tight turns were needed to be anywhere near the top of the leaderboard. The Flamstead Big Stars team made up of Hugo, Lucy, Florence and Euan put in 4 super fast clears to win the class by a considerable margin with Hugo taking the class win and 6 Flamstead riders (Hugo, Lucy, Ciara, Flo, Cecily and Euan) fast and clear to finish inside the top 20.
The 60cm class was, if possible, more competitive, requiring yet more speed over even tighter turns. We have such strength and depth at this level in Flamstead Pony Club and this was shown with the Flamstead teams taking the top 2 spots. The Flamstead Miltons of Hugo, Lucy, Flo and Macey Lou first and the Flamstead Boomerangs of Euan, Isabel, Ciara and Cecily second, yet again with 6 Flamstead riders (Hugo, Lucy, Ciara, Flo, Cecily and Euan) fast and clear to finish inside the top 20.
In parallel to the 50 and 60 classes, the 70 Regional classes kicked off in the indoor school. This section was bigger than ever with 88 starters required to jump 2 full courses. The second round in particular was extremely influential with a “bogey fence” at number 7 causing chaos. Only 39 of the 88 combinations completed and there were multiple holds causing the class to run rather late.
Super first round clears were jumped by Jess, Molly and Nicole but sadly the influential second round took its toll and Frank was the only Flamstead member to complete the competition, on just 4 faults.
The 80+ courses were tough, and asked some very difficult questions of horse and rider and this combined with numerous Withdrawals in the heat left Flamstead with some mixed results.
**STOP PRESS Congratulations to Zoe and Frank, who have now qualified for the Eastern Regional Championships **
Highlights include the Flamstead 80cms Mr Softees team made up of Zoe, Sienna, Rory and Jemima finishing a very respectable 9th out of 19 teams with lovely clear rounds over the two courses seen from Zoe, Sienna and Jemima.  Molly Batisovsky and Percy rode fabulous 90cms rounds with only 4 faults in each. Erin and Jess achieved individual placings in the 1m class coming 6th and 8th and both riders made up a mixed team for the mighty 110 and rode their socks off over a ridiculously hard course to come TEAM FIRST.  Congratulations on qualifying for Area Showjumping Championships in August later this year.
We are so proud and thankful to all of our Riders, their long suffering grooms and of course, the amazing Flamstead ponies for representing their Club.
