Area 12 SJ Championships

Last Sunday saw the Junior and Mini Show Jumping squad out in force at the Area 12 Championships and OBHS Halloween Show. This is a proper 2-round Championship show, with the second round up-to-height and very spooky and the first round having some rather scary pony-eating shetland ponies and donkeys down one end of the arena! A huge thank you to all of our members who made the trip down to BCA to represent Flamstead.
It has been a fabulous year for Flamstead’s mini and junior show jumpers, as shown by the excellent results at this Championship but, more importantly, by the amazing progress that has been shown by all of the children and their ponies. A huge well done to you all from your very proud team manager.
The day started early with the 40cm where Flamstead put forward a team of riders who have all progressed immensely this year. Lovely double clears from Maddie and Charlotte C, with just a few faults to add from Rory and Charlotte M left the team in a hugely respectable 3rd place. Very well done to Charlotte C who finished 5th individually, hotly pursued by Maddie in 9th.
Next came the 50cm Championship. The team of Maddie, Euan, Cecily and Isabel rode with great determination to finish an impressive second, well done to Maddie and Isabel for lovely double clears. Meanwhile in the Open competition, Charlotte C finished a well deserved 5th.
On to the 60cm Championship, and thankfully the rain was just about still holding off! Flamstead have been dominant at this height this year and put forward two super teams. The team of Cecily, Flo, Euan and Frank secured a well deserved 1st place, with Florence A, Araiya and Isabel in 7th. Individually, Araiya secured a well deserved 3rd place, with Flo in 8th and Euan 9th. Meanwhile in the Open section, Hugo made an impressive debut riding the lovely Tom to take the win.
On to 70cm, with everyone on the teams showing great team spirit, despite having now been at BCA for several hours, this Championship really is a marathon rather than a sprint! We have great strength and depth at this height, and Flamstead again dominated to win the team competition, with a team of Nicole, Molly, Jess O and Zoe. Individually, Zoe finished a super 3rd with Jess in hot pursuit in 4th. Jess also finished 8th in the Open section on the lovely Sonny.,
The day drew to an end with the 80cm Open, and what an end it was with Zoe finishing in 1st place, Chloe in 4th and Molly 7th.
