Area 12 Winter Triathlon Qualifiers

What a day!

On Saturday we headed to Queenswood school for the Winter Area 12 Triathlon, with a 20 strong Flamstead Triathlon squad.

First was the shooting, followed by a run around the playing pitches and then a swim to complete the day.

The shoot started at a civilised time of 10am and first up were our seniors – Josie and Molly (with Jess out due to illness yet supporting as a helper.)  At the same time our Beanies, Winter and Freddy started the bean bag throwing.

Then it was time for our Juniors to shoot, we had an excellent turnout of 8 Juniors so with 2 mixed teams – Jemima M, Penny, Charlie and Orla (sadly Orla withdrew due to illness) and our other team consisted of Zoe and Harvey (stepping up from Minis) who teamed up with Chloe and Nicole Issott on their first Triathlon – No mean feat at an Area qualifier competition.

After the Juniors shot, it was time for our Minis and again, we had an awesome team consisting of Violet, Jemima L and Maddie Darvell.

And finally (but certainly not last) our tadpoles, we had a great boys’ team with Hugo, Zachary, Samuel and another new member – George Oliver.

Results

In the Senior Girls Josie came 4^th and qualified for Winter Championships in a tough field with a number or out of area entries, she won her shoot with a great score of 960/1000. Molly also had a strong shoot at 860.

Both Molly and Josie mixed senior team came 1^st with over 500 points in lieu.

In the Junior Boys we had a good entry and privately Harvey and Charlie were competing against each other!  Charlie had a good 820 shoot and was placed 4^th and just beat Harvey who was placed 5th!! So, for the first time Charlie has qualified for Winter Championships.

For the Junior girls Penny had a great day with a strong shoot 860 and won the swim, placing her 2^nd and qualifying for Winter Championships.

Our Flamstead Blue team of Penny, Jemima M and Charlie came 2^nd, and our Flamstead Red team of Harvey, Zoe, Nicole, and Chloe came 6^th.

The Mini Girls team of Jemima L, Maddison and Violet were awesome with Violet finishing 6^th and as a Flamstead Mini team they came 8th

The Tadpole Boys team rocked, with Zach placed 2^nd, Hugo 3^rd, Samuel 4^th and George 6^th on his first tri competition -Awesome results

Jess Hudgell competed as a tadpole and got a great shoot of 620 and a strong run placing her 8^th in her group, this is a great result on her first tri too.

Our tadpole boy team of Zach, Hugo, Samuel, George came 2^nd and Jess H came 4^th in her mixed team.

In the Beanies Winter was placed 5^th and Freddy 8^th and their mixed team came 3^rd, well done Beanies.

These are great results, especially for the first timers! It is no mean feat to start Tri / Tet at an Area event!! There were lots of big wins / successes and little wins with lots learnt too!

It was a hugely enjoyable day and so great to have such an awesome bunch of competitors and parents enjoying the day.

Well done to everyone who competed, especially to our qualifiers Josie, Charlie and Penny.
