Eastern Regional Championships

Flamstead enjoyed a fabulous weekend at the Regional Finals at Aston le Walls. We had lots of new younger riders competing at the finals for the first time in the dressage, all riding and representing the pony club brilliantly. Ciara Scriven finished 2nd in her PC 70 dressage section and made it through to the ride off championships where she came 4th. In the PC 80 dressage, both Zoe Hooper and Ciara won their sections, making it through to the ride offs, where Zoe finished 5th, and Ciara 10th and the team finished 4th.

In the showjumping, Flamstead’s sole representative at 70cm this year, after a very challenging qualifier, was Frank on his turbo-cob Roy.
They jumped two good rounds over long, twisty and spooky tracks that caused a lot of problems. In round 1 he picked up 8 penalties with just a pole and a stop at the last when Roy showed his lack of experience by being just a bit distracted by the entrance to the collecting ring.
Frank and Roy then stormed around an up-to-height round 2, collecting an unlucky 4 faults for crossing their tracks.
In the 80cms, we were proud to have Zoe, Sienna and Rory qualifying. Both Sienna and Zoe had lovely clear first rounds with 4 faults in the second. Sadly Rory and Roxy opted for early retirement and joined the sidelines to cheer the girls  on.  It was a real endurance test in adverse weather conditions and a  huge class with fences up to height for the second round.

In the eventing, Zoe finished on her dressage score in the 70 for brilliant 4th place. In the 80 Sienna added 1 pole and a few time faults to her fantastic dressage score of 21 to finish 6th. Jemima Hunnisett rode a PB in the dressage for a score of 28.3, followed by a confident clear show jumping but sadly added an unfortunate 20 penalties for an unlucky stop on the cross country, keeping her out of the rosettes.

Well done to all our Flamstead riders over the weekend for doing us proud and riding so well. 💥
