Eventing Report

Last weekend saw some of our young budding Flamstead event riders out competing at the Grafton Hunt Mini One Day Event. It was a fantastic venue near Towcester, and the sun shone making it a great fun day out.

In the 40 assisted class, we had Lilly-May Robins riding her new pony Dykebeck Wild Bluebell and Madison Darvell riding Cluedo flying the flag for Flamstead, doing a super job jumping double clears, finishing on their dressage scores of 36.5 and 36.8 for 7th and 8th places, well done girls.

In the 50 unassisted class we had Cecily Dalton on her new pony Coco (handed down from her sister) and Euan Hamilton on Riley. They had to remember their dressage tests off by heart as callers were not allowed, and they both did a super job of this, which is pretty impressive at 7 & 8 years old. They produced lovely tests for scores of 35.8 and 37.5. They both show jumped clear, then Cecily flew around the cross country clear to take the win while Euan just had one hesitation at the first fence before storming round the rest of the course to pick up 3rd place.

In the 60 class Violet Grimston produced a super confident double clear on Rolo to finish on her dressage score of 37.5 for 3rd place. Florence Dalton on new ride Crispin produced a lovely dressage test for a score of 34.7, jumped clear in the show jumping then made just one mistake on the cross country to leave them in 8th. Violet also rode the less experienced Moorbridge Monty beautifully to finish in 13th around a course that caught a lot of combinations out and caused a lot of Eliminations.

In the 70 we had Nicole and Chloe Issott and Frank Hamilton competing for Flamstead. All 3 produced super dressage tests, scoring in the 20s. Nicole went on to lower one rail in the show jumping and just one stop on the cross country for 3rd place. Chloe Issott had a navigational error in the show jumping but was allowed to run cross country which she completed, while Frank’s pony Morgan sadly took a dislike to one of the cross country fences.

Well done to all our Flamstead members competing, it was such a super event, definitely one I would recommend for the future.

Rory Laing also flew the flag for the Flamstead eventers at the weekend, competing at the Burghley Pony Club One Day Event, held at non other than THE BURGHLEY PARK!

Rory lead the dressage on his lovely mare Rosscon Mia on a score of 29.2. They then lowered 2 rails in the show jumping around a course that saw lots of poles dropping before flying around the meaty cross country picking up some time faults to leave them in 9th place. Well done Rory.
