Flamstead Festive Show Jumping

Competition Report

40cm-70cm Rosie Hamilton

What a fantastic day we had at the annual Christmas Show! First of all a huge thank you to all of our members who gave up their time to help, we couldn’t have done it without you. It was lovely to have 30 Flamstead entries, which translated into multiple teams in some classes. All the clear rounds at 70cm and under will have qualified for the Area 12 Champs next October, please keep a record of your clears!
The Santa’s Helpers 40cm, sponsored by RVC Equine, kicked off the day bright (or foggy) and early. Jess and Maddie led the way for Flamstead with lovely clear rounds and Mia’s 4 faults and Belle’s 8 faults cemented a super team 4th. Jess finished a super individual 7th on her lovely new pony Panda.
The Santa’s Grotto 50cm, sponsored by Equitex, was the biggest class of the day with 41 entries and 3 full teams of Flamstead riders. The team of Hugo, Cecily, Lilly-May and Euan secured a fabulous win with 4 fast clear rounds, which is an amazing result in such a big class. Clear rounds for Poppy, Mia, Florence, Lucy, Jess, Frank, Eleanor and Maddie completed a fabulous class for Flamstead and secured team 5th and 6th. There were some incredibly quick individual rounds but right up there with the fastest were Hugo finishing individually 3rd and Lilly-May (in her fabulous elf outfit) 4th.
The RVC Equine 60cm Christmas Tree Stakes was also a huge and hotly contested class. The Flamstead team of Hugo, Florence, Lilly-May and Euan all jumped super clears and were just pipped at the post to finish second to a Mixed Branch team. The second Flamstead team of Frank, Poppy, Eleanor and Emily also jumped 4 super clears to secure team 6th. Once again the individual placings were hotly contested with some super speedy rounds. Hugo secured an amazing 2nd on Buzz with Lilly May a very quick 6th.
The Equitex Festive Fences 70cm was the third huge class of the day and yet another win for Flamstead! Four fast clear rounds by Annie, Jemima, Lyra and Zoe secured the team win by a huge margin of 22 seconds. Lovely clears by both Olivias and just a rail or two for Emily and Chloe brought the second Flamstead team in a very credible 5th. Individually, Zoe riding her super speedy Welsh rocket Tom came in 1st place by over a second with Annie finishing a very credible 4th and Lyra 7th to bring three Flamstead riders home in the top 8.

80cm – 110cm Georgie Dalton/Jules Laing

In the Jingle Bells 80cm class Holly Hudgell jumped a lovely clear round, competing for the first time with her new horse Belle, finishing in 7th.  Jemima Latham riding Flamstead Pony Club’s Pony of the Year Gadget also jumped a super clear round , finishing in 10th. Zoe Hooper had a super speedy round, but sadly clipped a fence for 4 faults, preventing her from placing in the top 3.

The Flamstead Awesome Angels team of Jemima, Zoe, Annie Neil and Chloe Meacock finished in 3rd place.

In the Holly & Ivy Stakes 90cm class Millie Monico stormed to victory on her new ride Ophelia, jumping a very speedy round. Amy Vale finished 5th with a lovely clear. These two riders made up the Flamstead Figgy Pudding team with Abigail Johnson who had an unlucky pole, and the team finished in 2nd place.

In the Stockings 1m class, Isobel Morton, our Show Jumper of the Year, showed her talent jumping an immaculate clear taking 1st place. Amy Vale rode a beautiful round just behind in 3rd place, with Hattie Goodman, Josie Reid and Olivia Fisher all picking up 4 faults to come 7th, 8th and 9th. The Flamstead Super Sleigh Bells team consisting of Isobel, Hattie, Amy and Olivia were victorious.

In the Christmas Jumpers 110m class, again Isobel Morton flew the flag for Flamstead, showing their true class, jumping another lovely clear round for the win. Olivia Fisher finished in 3rd, Hattie Goodman in 4th and Josie Reid in 5th. The Flamstead team won again!

Huge thanks to our Sponsors RVC and Equitex for such wonderful prizes, and to all the helpers on the day, making sure the day ran so smoothly.
