Flamstead Hunter Trials Report
The sun shone for us all day on Sunday with the return of our Autumn Hunter Trial at the field. With perfect ground conditions, and immaculate jumps, the field looked fantastic and inviting for our competitors. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare the field in the few weeks before hand, we can’t run these events without the FPC community coming together to help, and as well as having amazing fun on the day, they are also vital fund raisers for our club.
We had a big mix of competitors and plenty of members having fun over the course, many of whom picked up rosettes along the way!
Freddie kicked the day off in the 40cm assisted class with a second place, closely followed by Charlotte taking 3rd and 4th.
We saw 3 in the top 10 in the 50cm, with Bunny taking 2nd and Cecily and Jess 6th and 8th respectively.
We then had the 60cm pairs, always a great class, and lots of fun to go round the course with a pal, or in this case we had two pony club mums going round with their kids! Mia and mum Jade rode a beautiful round together to take 1st place, and Frank rode with mum Rosie to come 3rd. We also saw Macey and Kiera ride a fun round together to come 5th.
The individuals came next, and we had great results with Jess, Eleanor, Izzy and Flo taking the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 9th positions respectively.
We then moved to 80 pairs where we also saw a mother son pairing with Rosie and Guy jumping to 5th place, just ahead of daughter/sister Violet, paired with Nicole for 6th. Our winners however were Holly Latham and Fiona Cameron, two past older members who came back for a fun day out, and you could hear the laughing all the way round!
The 80 individuals was another popular class, Lucy and Leila rode lovely clears to come 5th and 10th, and Chloe Issot came in right on the optimum time to win the class!
Leila had a lovely clear in the 90cm to take the win, and Nicole was delighted with 2nd,before returning to uni the next day. We finished the day on a high with Jemima Martin winning the 1m with a lovely clear on Zara Cokers gorgeous horse Rolo.
The day was topped off with cake and Prosecco to celebrate Pauls birthday, who had been working tirelessly all day on his birthday to make sure everyone volunteering on the field knew exactly what they were doing!
Thankyou to our many volunteers who helped either on the day or in the run up, it all contributed to a fabulous event, our xc course really is one to be proud of!
