JCB Champs 2025 – Dressage
Huge well done to all of our dressage riders competing at champs. Each and every one rode lovely harmonious tests in a big atmosphere. Not easy to do dressage directly next to championship showjumping arenas!
Megan Johnson won her novice warmup class on 72% with her new ride Betty, and also placed 3rd on Des on 69%. Zoe Hooper and Tom placed 3rd in hers on 67%.
In the intermediate Maisie Filler and the ever consistent Norman also hit the magic 70% with a characteristically well presented test. Holly Hudgell produced a lovely and tactically ridden test on her short-term ride Kit Kat, who found the atmosphere rather exciting! Sienna and Megan also rode lovely tests but again with the pressure of the finals a little tension was totally understandable and small mistakes affected the final scores.
Dressage at Champs is certainly not a calm affair! It takes a lot of composure and tactical riding to get the best out of the horses and impress the judges. With such a high standard of competition, everything has to go right in the moment to be placed. We are immensely proud of all of our riders, not just for qualifying and competing but also for their team spirit and support of each other, and the excellent management of their horses in the super hot temperatures.
We look forward to working hard over the autumn / winter to get ready for Spring Festival qualifiers after a little break (for the parents!!!). Thank you all for representing Flamstead Pony Club, we’re very proud of you!
