JCB Champs – Eventing

Another amazing week for Flamstead eventing at the Pony Club National Championships. Yet again, our members were on flying form, bringing home lots of rosettes, sashes, prizes and trophies.

For the third year in a row, our Eventers shone! We had Erin, Olivia and Josie representing us in the Chairman’s Cup which is the pinnacle of Pony Club Eventing at the Champs. It’s set out as a 3 day event, with an initial trot up to check horses soundness, followed by dressage, then a 1.05m cross country, finishing with 1.10m showjumping on the final day, which jumps in reverse order of places, accumulating in an exciting finish, badminton style! We are so proud to say all 3 girls finished in the top 20, having all jumped clear inside the time on the cross country the day before. It was a very exciting and tense night, going in to the showjumping with such amazing scores!

Olivia picked up a podium place, finishing in 3rd on her dressage score, Erin also finished on her dressage score for 7th and Josie came 16th in a huge field of over 65 competitors. Erin also won the Horsemanship Award for how stylishly she rode and looked after her horse during the competition.

Flamstead won the team event by a huge margin and our girls helped Area 12 win the Area Team competition, incredible!

Georgie was there for coaching and support throughout the whole competition, how lucky we are to have her expert knowledge and experience to hand!

‘I’m so unbelievably proud of our kids, it was a pretty emotional day and may take a few days to settle in.
To qualify for Champs is an amazing result. To win at Champs is the stuff dreams are made of!
Well done girls , you are so brilliant and I’m one lucky coach to work with you. I am raising a glass to you tonight’
