Senior Home Internationals Report

Three brave Flamstead Senior Tetrathletes travelled to Somerset to Pontispool for the competition. They proudly wore their yellow Central England kit and competed across regions in the UK and Ireland.

After setting up camp and settling the horses, the competition began on Friday with the Shoot and Swim at Taunton School. Jess and Josie represented Central England in the relays and secured a close second place.

Jess was in fifth place individually after the first day, but the XC course was formidable, a full-up Senior Tet XC course with all the height & technicality.

Josie rode a superb round, taking all the direct routes with just one stop and securing a strong 1340 ride score. Jess rode sensibly with Fred, his biggest challenge since his comeback, choosing confidence-building lines over chasing the leaderboard. She gave Fred the round he needed over a solid and formidable Tet track.

Next were Molly and Percy’s turn. They started brilliantly but parted company halfway around the course on one of the bigger combinations. Molly was okay but was withdrawn for the rest of the competition.

After an eventful ride, we showered and got ready for a black-tie evening at Taunton School. Despite limited showers and facilities, everyone looked great and enjoyed a fun gala night with dancing. Thanks to Katy for organising the bus transport!

On Sunday, the brutal run began. It started with a long uphill climb in the mid-day heat across the XC course, including the 1m bounce drop steps. After the run, there was a camp clear-down and prize-giving.

I’m so proud of our Flamstead Seniors tetrathletes and pleased to field such a strong team at Senior level.

It was an amazing weekend filled with learning, making, and strengthening new friendships. We had a great time with such a wonderful group of people!
