January 25th Showjumping and Dressage reports

Last weekend Flamstead members were lucky to be able to choose from 2 fixtures, Woodland Hunt’s show jumping show at BCA or Bicester and Warden Hill PC’s show jumping and dressage show at Addington.
The indoor arena at BCA is always spooky and the Woodland Hunt show was no different with tricky lines catching out some usually very consistent combinations, especially in the early classes. However the ever-consistent Zoe on her lovely (but spooky!) pony Tom got things going for Flamstead with a wonderful fast clear in the 70cm for second. She then followed that up by going one better for 1st in the 80cm, winning by over 4 seconds. Jess O took a super 4th.
In the 90cm Jess O was 5th with a lovely clear and Chloe 8th. Flying the flag for Flamstead in the 1m and 1:10, Jess R started her 2026 competition season well with just 4 faults for 7th and 8 faults for 4th.
Meanwhile at Addington, half the challenge was understanding the rules of the classes, with fun accumulator and 2 phase classes on offer, as well as the more usual single phase classes.
Addington’s indoor is an intimidating ring for less experienced combinations, but the 50cm team of Mia, Sammy, Bunny and Euan all stood up to the task, despite suffering from an onset of 4-fault-itis. The 60cm was 2-phase with clear rounds in the first class seeing Jess H and Sammy jumping off again and Jess flying around for a fabulous win with her super pony Panda. The team finished a very respectable 4th.
The 70cm saw the introduction of an “Accumulator” class, ending in a joker fence. Very well done to our team of Jess, Lucy and Violet who finished 2nd. At 80cm, with a return to 2-phase competition, both Emily and Violet jumped fabulous first round clears rounds.
Things start to get serious at 90cm. Flamstead sadly didn’t have a team at this height but Isabella and Penny both jumped lovely rounds. In the 1m, back on 2-phase, Millie jumped a super first round clear, just adding 4 faults in the jump off for 7th. She then jumped a magnificent double clear in the 1:10 to finish the day with a win for Flamstead!
Meanwhile, outside in the rain the dressage riders were showing some dedication to their sport…over to Juliet!
I am delighted to report on a successful dressage competition for Flamstead branch members competing at Addington on Sunday.
Firstly the warmest of welcomes to the sport of dressage for Freddie and Mia. I know it is Freddies first ever dressage competition and I believe it to be very early days if not a first pony club competition test for Mia too.
Walk Trot class
What a great start with both winning a rosette with fab scores of 67.25% (6th) for Freddie and an incredible 76.25%, podium finish in 2nd place for Mia.
PC70
Fab scores for Frank (71.20%) and Violet (69.60%) in a very competitive class.
PC80
Great scores again for Frank (70.63%) for a well-deserved 2nd place, well done. Violet performed well again with a very respectable 65.21%
The Practice really is paying off for both of these riders, the improvement shows in the way of going for both of these partnerships.
Intermediate
What a return between the boards for Holly on Henry with the win and fab score of 67.67%. So pleased to have you out competing for the branch.
